I believe that someone stole my shoes at an eBay authentication center in NY. Has anyone ever had this happen?! I am shocked.. I sold some Yeezy Boost sneakers, which I had inspected, and were told were authentic before selling them. The authentication center said they were counterfeit, and said they were sending them back to me, and deducted the profit made from my account. A few days later, I recieved the original box and shoe box EMPTY, no shoes inside. They were $600 shoes. I have contacted eBay about this multiple times, and sent pictures of the empty box, but they do not believe me, and closed the case. The tape was untampered with upon arrival, and had not been opened, so it did not appear to be UPS fault. Any ideas what can be done about this? I wonder if this has happened to anyone else? Definitely makes me think twice about listing expensive items on eBay again.

Thank you, and for your other reply also..how do you buy insurance if you purchase your label through ebay? I tried to add it at the post office later, and they said I couldn't since I had already purchased the label through someone else.

Update.. I contacted eBay by email and went back and forth with them and they closed the case without any action taken on their part.. And I have talked to them on the phone multiple times, and they said they would get back to me multiple times, and they never did, and closed the case again. Now when I call they say they're going to send me to appeals, which is by email response. Is there anyone out there that has had success with appeals? I don't know if I want to go through this again..
I sincerely believe that someone at the authentication Center stole my shoes, and marked them counterfeit, and these shoes were not counterfeit. Now they are gone, and eBay has done nothing about it, and keeps closing the case. I thought about filing a police report, but they told me that the authentication centers have no cameras, and do not take pictures of the items, so I'm not sure how they could do anything without this evidence?

AGAIN???!!!
This "Authentication Service" seems to be disappearing a LOT of shoes recently..
If I sold sneakers that required this service; I think I would pull the listings until that "limited time free service" was expired..
Sorry OP..
ETA: DO THE APPEAL! Don't just give up & take the loss!! Good Luck

Tbh I would try filing a police report anyways, its better then nothing. I would also contact ebay via Facebook Messenger. They are much better to work with. Explain your situation with them. They might be able to do something better then the phone reps. Also try the appeal too

Earlier you mentioned that the sneakers were sent back to you via UPS. If that is the case I would check the tracking number details. UPS weighs their packages everytime the package goes through a main sorting facility. If the package was indeed missing the shoes the weight of that package would be recorded after acceptance by the UPS at the very first sorting facility. If it were me I would start there.

That is a good idea.....You have impressed me with your "Sherlock Holmes" Powers

Really, a police report? You have to 'come into court with clean hands'. That's like a drug dealer asking for help with a bad drug deal. The shoes were determined to be counterfeit by a third party. The police are not going to aid and abet in this type of activity. It's a federal crime just to ship them back. It's clearly stated in the authentification program they may not be returned if the results are not favorable. The seller agreed to the terms though likely did not read them.

Sorry this happened to you but it is one of the risks with selling high dollar items on eBay. It seems the authentication center has done little to protect either the seller or the buyer from counterfeit shoes and in fact has only added to the problem.

One has to wonder what the authentication center is doing with all of those confiscated shoes if they in fact are keeping them?

the same world in which you are selling a one cent coin for over $3.00. More importantly, capitalism is the best system for pulling people out of poverty.

Just a general suggestion of mine

How did eBay steal the $600 from you? Was it stolen from a bank account or a credit card? You should start with a dispute.

Isn't that the truth!

If you can get USPS to pay the claim-for damage or lost packages-it's a real **bleep** shoot with them.
