Authentication Center stole my shoes?

I believe that someone stole my shoes at an eBay authentication center in NY.  Has anyone ever had this happen?! I am shocked..  I sold some Yeezy Boost sneakers, which I had inspected, and were told were authentic before selling them.  The authentication center said they were counterfeit, and said they were sending them back to me, and deducted the profit made from my account. A few days later, I recieved the original box and shoe box EMPTY, no shoes inside. They were $600 shoes. I have contacted eBay about this multiple times, and sent pictures of the empty box, but they do not believe me, and closed the case. The tape was untampered with upon arrival, and had not been opened, so it did not appear to be UPS fault. Any ideas what can be done about this? I wonder if this has happened to anyone else? Definitely makes me think twice about listing expensive items on eBay again.

WOW! Not long ago another poster wrote that when he shipped his sneakers there they forgot to include an important tag to the shoes.

He stated that he called ebay and the connected him to the authenticator in which he spoke with them, so you may try that.

This program is newer so many posters probably haven't tried it as it's just for sneakers. Best to you and hope you receive some answers.

Re: Authentication Center stole my shoes?

In what world do tennis shoes need to cost $600?  People all over the world are starving including in every state of our country.

How does ebay know anything about how you packed your box?  That's the problem with selling expensive items on-line.  We have no protection as sellers.

Wow.  I don't do social media (and I need to write this down myself), but you really need to get in touch with e-Bay on Facebook and ask them to look into this for you.  (Someone will know the link for you, my apologies on that).

Was this an inspection done by a 3rd party? Or a friend? (Im just curious)

The authentication center said they were counterfeit, and said they were sending them back to me, and deducted the profit made from my account.

Was there any reason they said it was counterfeit? Surely they would tell you why

Well.....You could file a police report and a missing mail report to UPS. UPS can backtrack it and a police report for stolen merch can be serious

Any ideas what can be done about this?

For the future, always get insurance. It is worth having on high priced items

Like @katzrul15 said, I would contact ebay on Facebook first

Re: Authentication Center stole my shoes?

Thank you for your reply! I'm fairly new to selling and although I spoke with someone last year on the phone, it looks like they don't have a phone number anymore? I have looked everywhere to try to find a phone number to talk to someone live. Do you know a phone number that works for eBay, to talk to a live person? Thank you!

It's crazy.

One time I decided to buy a pair of name brand shoes for around $100 and they didn't last any longer then the ones I get at WallyWorld for $20.

Have a great day.

Actually, they packed the box at the authentication center...I know, I thought that I would have had alot more support from them on this matter than I had..it's unfortunate.

Re: Authentication Center stole my shoes?

I'm sorry that this happened, but the truth be told Ebay likes to scam sellers. I would suggest you file a police report and contact a lawyer to see what your options are.

"Except INR cases when there is tracking"

It is true that ebay covered my loss on a small sale of paper euro currency because I used tracking and signature required back in 2014.  The buyer tried an INR case and was denied.

Re: Authentication Center stole my shoes?

This is why I always do tracking for my items. And I am especially thankful for USPS priority mail having that instant 100 dollar insurance
