Auctions binding?

Seller had an auction for an item then when he did not like the auction result he cancelled the order using 'buyer requested to cancel order'. He then messaged me with this "Hi. Sorry. I'll have to cancel. The price is too low". I've reported seller and left negative feedback to warn others. What are any other options?

Yeah, he reposted the same item the same way today...

Ebay in an effort to keep the community safe could elect to remove the listing, he cancelled & lied to ebay as to reason, what stops him were he to deem the price at auction again as too low ?

Sellers can be either an asset or a liability, unhappy buyers are not very good for business.

How likely is it that he'll get any bids at all, now that his feedback rating is -1?

It would appear that more than a few ebay users may not pay attention to feedback

Re: Auctions binding?

Looks like it was thier first sell as well. Thier account might just be toast already. I honestly don't understand why people do auctions without starting bid at a reasonable price so they don't get disappointed in the outcome. I've had a few where they didn't go so good, but still sent out because it's the principal of the whole thing.

Re: Auctions binding?

Was it for the Peavy guitar amp.  Starting bid is $1.00.   He will probably get an even lower price. I would place a 1.oo bid just to see where this one ends at.  Maybe you will win it again.

Did you know that for auctions, Ebay actually recommends to start them at 99 cents.  Very often , they put the starting price at 99 cents and if the seller is not attentive, the ad may start at 99 cents.

This is how eBay vets it's inattentive sellers. I appreciate they do this to protect us buyers.

Re: Auctions binding?

And look up your items and what they have sold for on your own. If you just take ebay's suggested price, well. That is on you. You are the only one who can decide at what price and format to attempt to sell your items!

Re: Auctions binding?

Well, the seller in question has a -1 feedback. So they won't be on for much longer. -4 feedback, and your account is banned. His reputation as a seller is ruined. You can't pull that type of stuff on your very first sale. He's now on ebay's watch list, and he's going to pull that again, im sure of it. So he'll be gone soon enough.

Re: Auctions binding?

So after this post and reading a few other responses, I decided to bid again and wait to see if I win again. If the seller repeats his game, I will repeat my negative feedback in hopes that ebay will take some action... Am I being an A-hole?

Re: Auctions binding?

The point is that any ebay suggested prices should be disregarded as worthless.
