Hi,
So I made an auction today, set the one week timer, and someone bid within the hour. But they also paid immediately. I intended to let the auction run, though I'm not unhappy with the bid price. Just confused as to why it sold instantly with the auction still running. I don't believe I set up a Buy It Now or Best Offer anywhere as well.

It sold right away because you added a buy it now price. I would be more concerned with the fact that this is a $400+ game in a high-scam category and you're selling on an account with only 1 FB. That makes you and your listing scammer magnets.
- Do not respond to any requests to text or email outside of eBay.
- Do not send gift card codes.
- Once the buyer pays, check to see if the shipping address is a re-shipper and if it is, come here for advice. (Normally I have no issues with re-shippers, but given your situation and the fact that it sold instantly, I would be concerned.)

They used the BIN to purchase the listing. A number of your auctions have a BIN option.

Your starting price was $300, but you also had a "Buy It Now" option for $416 added to the listing. The buyer used this option. You need to uncheck this option when listing if you want it to run the full 7 days.

Thank you all for letting me know. I couldn't see it was a Buy It Now on the app.

Definitely use a laptop or desktop for setting up high-value listings. The app is too flaky and condensed to be trusted with transactions like that. On a desktop or laptop, you can walk through the full listing form and make sure you have things set up exactly the way you want them.
In particular, if you do plan to set a BuyItNow price, be sure to find and select the checkbox option for Immediate Payment Required, so that no one can snatch your item off the market without actually paying you for it first.
P.S. Why $416? 🤔

The only smart way to start on ebay is with a full sized computer. Using cell phones is killing the younger crowd because everything looks so simple when in fact it takes work and attention to succeed in on-line sales.
You will be lucky to get your money once the "buyer" makes some sot of false scam claim. Only time will tell.

Unfortunately, the Immediate Payment Required option is only available on Fixed Price listings (about 85% of listings are FP).
And even then, if a FP listing includes Best Offer and an offer is accepted, the IPR is not applicable (because the buyer is not necessarily around at the time of the acceptance).

Its best to always use a laptop or desktop when selling, using a desktop version of the browser to make listings has more features unlike the eBay app.

As far as I know immediate payment is available on an auction IF the buyer uses the buy it now option,

IPR is available for a BuyItNow price in an auction; I use it that way all the time.
You are correct that it cannot be applied to the Make Offer feature, which always seemed like a big oversight to me, but I hear that they may be adding it there soon. Until then, I never recommend using Make Offer on FP listings, since it's a great scammer workaround to channel the seller into a fake-payment scam.
