At least this time it's not a migraine... but I have strep throat and am running a low fever (which basically means I have zero energy for periods of time, but trying to get stuff done while I feel OK).
Customers have been waiting as long as Wednesday for me to get stuff out, and I couldn't because of holiday stuff with my shipper. I've promised everyone shipping on Tuesday.
Oh, I have three days this weekend to pack and should be better in a day or two? Fat chance. Healthcare is messed up. For me to go to emerg is a 24+ hour wait sitting in chairs, and when you have a family doctor you are not allowed to use walk in clinics, those are for people without doctors. So I will probably be getting my antibiotics on Tuesday. The doctor's office was closed all week, so there's nothing I can do.
Right now I'm busy printing the packing slips because sitting at the computer is the hardest thing, and for a moment now with cold water, I feel OK. (I only got the fever today). As long as I'm not dizzy, I should be able to get these packed... or at least pack last week's orders and maybe this weekend's orders wait another day or two.

Why haven't you put your store on vacation?

Ughhh, so sorry you're sick. Hope you feel better soon! Shocked at 24hr ER waits & that you can't go to Urgent Care. I thought CA medical was so much better than ours. I guess it's just cheaper than ours. I think US ER wait times are outrageous & they are typically not even a 3rd of that.

I figured out I was sick today... and already had 19 orders to ship (since Wednesday morning).
I have 10 days handling, going on vacation over minor stuff is not necessary. The 10 days is specifically there to deal with problems as I have a chronic health condition, need to travel for work, and sometimes don't have access to my inventory because it's at the B&M store and I can't get there for a few days.

I think the main source of my frustration is our bad health care... they have something called rostered health care where they set you up with a family doctor, but if you're part of this, you're not allowed to use any urgent care or walk in clinics except ones designated by your family doctor. My designated clinic is a 45 minute drive from where I live (where the family doctor is 10 minutes away), and I've driven before with a fever, it's not fun. Sitting in chairs waiting to see a doctor with a fever isn't fun. It's the kind of thing that makes you decide to just forget about that and stay home... but I won't get better without antibiotics.
I am going to attempt to go to my designated clinic tomorrow morning and see if they will see me. If they do, I will probably be feeling better in 2 days.
Right now most of my orders are printed with postage printed, and when I'm done with this, I'm going to sleep until morning. I figure at least if postage is printed, I'm doing something, and minor delays would be tolerated because I'm in Canada and the cross border thing. They just don't want to see their order sitting there being ignored.

@sin-n-dex Wow, may have to reconsider escaping to Canada LOL. I'm so sorry, that must be VERY frustrating. Just take care of yourself first! You won't do anyone any good if you're laid up in the hospital. It's not like you're shipping life saving devices. Do what you can, but rest & take it easy! Hope you feel better soon!

Going to the hospital isn't something I should be worried about... they aren't taking any patients unless you're on death's doorstep. Lots of people are sleeping on their hospital cot in hallways. "The National" (CBC Nightly News program) features hospital issues several times a week.

We hope you feel better soon! May we suggest you put your store in time away mode for a few days so that you don't add to your shipping backlog. That will give you time to recover & not be as pressured to keep on shipping every day. 🙏

Dare I suggest you take a Covid test?

Get well soon! Sorry to hear that you are under the weather. Be careful not to over (over) do it.😉

I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well and hope that it passes quickly. Put your store on vacation mode for now and give yourself a break. I do have a chronic condition, a few of them actually, and have had to put my store on vaykay mode 5 times this year. That will give you a break in responding to emails too. Is telehealth available in your area? Try that if you can. Get the orders out that you got already and shut it down! Take care of yourself and feel better.

I feel for you...as a kid I had chronic strep and bronchitis. Lucky me though, we had a doctor who made housecalls, Shot in the oospie and a couple of days later I'm fine. Til the next time.
Wishing you well.

I'm in OR at the coast. The ER almost killed my hubs when he had a severe toxic shock event. Made him sit in a wheel chair until his blood pressure was 50! Long story and not pretty, I should have sued.
On the other hand our Urgent Care people walk on water. They are wonderful.
The only explanation I was given about hubs experience was that they were rotating doctors with OHSU in Portland...if that is true I pray I never have to go there.

I'm sorry that happened to your family 😞 My mom was 2 weeks away from death with no idea what was wrong & multiple hospital visits due to dr's negligence, so I get it. It was a nurse neighbor of hers that finally figured out what was wrong (mitral valve replacement stat) & put her in touch with the right doc & she refused to sue, even tho' we're a few years out & she's had so many issues due to the negligence. However, I recognize that for every horror story, there is also a hero story. No one gets it right all the time, tho' by many accounts Cuba (yes, Cuba) has the best healthcare in the world, but I was just shocked by the 24 hour wait. I've never heard of a wait that long in the US, though I'm sure it happens somewhere. I also knew that Canada's system was far from perfect from back in 99, when I used to travel there all the time for business & so I talked to a lot of people that lived there. I gather it's gotten worse since then.
I'm also shocked that there's no one at her PC's office that can just order an antiobiotic. I was talking to one of my specialist's offices today & tho' I'm sure the doc & many techs were on vaca, they all were in text contact & I got what I needed within 1/2 hour.
BTW @sin-n-dex be aware that there is a worldwide shortage of some antibiotics, not just the ones you hear about on the news! I had one ordered a week ago & go to fill it to find out it's been back ordered for almost a year b/c 1 of the mfrs stopped making it. When you get to talk to someone, have them double check that it's actually available!
