Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help me out here? This past week Ive had 2 separate buyers with the same issue. I want to see if any other seller is experiencing this or if anyone knows what might be going on and can help me. Here’s what happened. On both occasions the buyers sent me an offer and I accepted. However, both the buyers then messaged me saying that on their end, eBays notification was showing that the offer accepted was for the exact same amount as the full original listing price, it was saying they owed full price which is crazy since they knew that they each had sent me an offer that was obviously lower than the full price. For example, the first buyer sent an offer of $30 on an item that I had listed for $50 with best offer optional. He sent an offer of $30, I accepted that and everything was normal on my end. However, a few minutes later he messaged me saying that the notification he received from eBay said that I accepted his offer but also said “you’ve committed to buy this item for 50” which was the full original listing price (he even sent me a screenshot for proof and the screenshot showed exactly what he was saying, it displayed that he owed $50, the full listing price)
I was shocked just as much as the buyer since I knew I accepted an offer of 30 but now this buyer was wondering if I did something fishy somehow. I explained to him that I did nothing wrong and that I was fine with his offer of $30. I asked him to click on ‘Pay now’ to see if perhaps eBay would correct the price on the checkout page (I obviously told him not to pay if it still displayed the incorrect amount of $50) anyway, when he did this, ebay corrected itself and displayed the proper amount of $30. And the buyer verified that he was indeed charged the correct amount of just $30 plus tax. That happened on Monday and I brushed it off as a one time glitch. However, the same thing happened to me yesterday with a completely different buyer whose offer I had also accepted. He messaged me telling me that he wasn’t going to pay because it showed that he owed the full listing price. After I told him what worked with the other buyer he did the same thing (clicked on pay now) and it worked for him as well, on the checkout page the correct offer price was displayed and he was charged correctly. Anyway, I’m glad that things have worked out so far but if this keeps happening it could be a huge issue that could really hurt my sales. As we all know, some buyers don’t communicate. I mean, imagine if neither of these buyers had brought this to my attention. This is ridiculous and needs to stop.
Can anyone help me out here? Is this happening to anyone else out there?

Yeah it’s most likely a glitch. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I’m glad at least one person was willing to read the whole post. And yes you are right, best offer really helps me. I tried not using it before and had a lot less sales volume without it. That guy who said to ditch best offer, doesn’t realize that for some sellers it’s absolutely necessary to use best offer, especially if you’re trying to make a living doing eBay. I don’t know how he doesn’t understand that, but he clearly doesn’t

Lose the best offer feature and just list buy it now with immediate payment checked off as well. You'll get more serious buyers and less headaches. Easy.
Happy New Year and Happy Selling!

Not sure why the issue is happening, but just do 1 of these 2 things
edit the listing
lower price to 30
remove Best Offer
Tell Buyer to then purchase.
or just tell the buyer you will refund $20 within the hour.

I don’t have to refund 20 or cancel and put the listing up again for $30 because (as I said above) they did end up paying the right amount after they clicked on, ‘pay now’ cause the checkout page showed the right amount which fixed the issue. The main problem with this is the initial confusion it brings to the buyer and the frustration it can cause for the seller. I just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this

This happened awhile ago to me, not paying attention. Had a watched item, seller sent me an offer, ( all on my cell phone incidentally) instead of going thru the offer sent link I mistakenly when thru the watching link and ended up paying original listing price.
I owned up to it because it was my fault only. I suspect that's what happened to the first
buyer you mentioned above.

That’s a little similar but not exactly the same because once they clicked on pay now it fixed the issue and charged them the best offer price. They weren’t charged the full price like you were

Plus it’s a different situation because They said that their problem occurred when they clicked on the best offer accepted notification that eBay sent them. They weren’t going through the watching link like you mistakenly did. Their problem occurred while they were going through the best offer link that eBay had just sent them in the notification which is crazy cause their should never be a problem with price on best offer accepted notification/link that eBay sends

Sorry; somehow that story could have/should have been told in 3 lines. I get bored after 3 lines if the poster doesn't get to the meat and potatoes of a story.

I was thorough because I’ve tried to get help on here before and almost never got the help I needed because I wasn’t thorough enough in describing the issue. Whenever someone commented I could tell that they weren’t any help because they didn’t really understand the issue.

Sounds like a standard Ebay glitch that you will have to work through. And do not ditch the best offer as that is a very good option that generates lots of sales, at least for me.
