Are there any alternative ways for a seller to receive payments?

Hello everyone. I've been selling on Ebay since 1999 but haven't sold anything for like 3 months. Now I see everything has changed and payments would go to a bank instead of Paypal, or that is what I understand more or less. My question is if there is another way a seller can receive payments for sold items, or it has to be only to a bank account. Thank you.

No, there is only Ebay Managed Payment .

Not all sellers have been transitioned into Managed Payments. Those sellers, of course, are still able to use PayPal as their payment processor. If you've not sold for some time and have not been "invited" into the Managed Payments program, you would still be allowed to use PayPal until given notice to enroll in Managed Payments.

If and when a seller has been enrolled in eBay's Managed Payments program, proceeds from sales will go into the seller's designated checking account.

If you have items to sell, I'd list them now, while you're still able to use PayPal as your payment processor (assuming you haven't been contacted about signing up for Managed Payments yet).

There are no other options.

Since I did not sign up for managed payments I have had 3 items sold and the $ from those items went to paypal just as before. Not sure this information will help anyone.

If you don't sign up by the date Ebay gave you, your payments will still go to Pay Pal, until they switch you over or remove your items.

Have a great day.

If your items were listed under PayPal, they'll play out under PayPal. If a seller has been migrated to MP... nevermore.

Can they migrate you there without your permission??? I'm looking for another venue. Iam an old fart and not real computer literate. I really like the paypal system as it works for my needs.

No migrate system

Sign up for managed Payments or stop selling on eBay platform

If you are such an old fart why are you willing to learn a new venue?

Many other venues will ask you for the same information as Managed Payments

Re: Are there any alternative ways for a seller to receive payments?

If you are still not in managed payment then PayPal will be your only option for the most part. In the past sellers could process credit card payments on their own but eBay removed that option awhile back. There is the possibility you could offer local pick up and accept cash but that really would limit your buyers to have to be in your area and other sites like cl and offer up would be better for that.

As you have not been selling you could create a test listing in the listing template if you still can use your email address associated with PayPal, then for the time being you can use PayPal.  However if the payment option is checked with a grey box fallowed by payments managed by eBay then you are in the managed payments and will need to give them your bank info before you can sell and get paid. eBay has hinted that they will let new sellers start on PayPal then move them over to MP over time so most likely you are not in MP yet unless they sent you the enrollment message a while back and you missed it. If they did send you a enrollment message and you did not enroll as you had no active listings you will not be able to list till you enroll. For sellers with active listings at the time of the enrollment message is set if they do not make the dead line they can still sell using PayPal but only with the listings they have active before the dead line given by eBay.

Most likely you will be able to use PayPal for a while but if you intent to sell on eBay in the long run a 2nd bank account for eBay sells will really be needed. Even if you have a checking account for day to day purchases it is best to have a separate one so the eBay sells will not get muddled up with your daily finances.

Re: Are there any alternative ways for a seller to receive payments?

Also the option for local pick up is available under the blue link for additional payment options in the listing template. You will probably still have to have a PayPal or MP set up before you can list. I tried checking the option for payment on pick up and it did not un check the MP option. So most likely PayPal will have to be filled out if not in MP and if in MP you would have to have the registration completed list before you can list using local pick up.

I don't think they can migrate you without your permission... but once you're invited, they can shut you down if you don't comply by their 'sign up' date. I've been in since Fall, 2019. Once you adapt, it's doable.

Re: Are there any alternative ways for a seller to receive payments?

People have been migrated without knowing it........and without having bank accounts set up to receive payments............so I wouldn't depend on "giving permission" to stop the migration.

Just a pesky point........if you have auctions started before the migration.......those payments will be paid to Paypal......all fixed priced listings migrate immediately to MP............

Yes, they have been.

Some sellers don't even know they've been switched over until they get an order and there's no money in their Pay Pal account.

The only way they can get their money is to sign up for MP.

We all liked Pay Pal, but things change.

Have a great day.
