Are the eBay hit count numbers accurate 100% of the time?

I doubt anything is accurate 100% of the time............

 

It is possible that someone alluded to your item on social media and spread the link, though.

I guess that that would depend upon what you mean by "entirely accurate". If you mean "does it accurately represent the actual number of eBay users who found my item in search and looked at it", the answer is almost certainly no.

 

I doubt eBay spends any time or effort trying to adjust the hit count when a third party scrapes the website, or when someone posts a link somewhere, or when someone shares a listing on a social media site like Facebook.

There have been times when it was obvious that the system wasn't working and the numbers were garbage. As far as most of the time? Who knows?

I wouldn't trust ANYTHING eBay to be accurate. They can't even keep the site functioning properly. 

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".
