I just spent an extremely frustrating hour, mostly on hold, with my bank, only to finally have the problem blamed on Ebay. Normally when ebay sends available funds to me over the weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday, in this case both), it shows up as deposited and available in my bank account Monday, no later than 12:00 PM, usually 11:05 AM for some reason. But today there's nothing, not even 'pending' deposits from Ebay, and this wasn't a holiday weekend or anything. The overseas phone reps for my bank (repS, plural, because they transferred me from one to the next) said Ebay has not sent funds, period. But here in my Payments page, it shows FUNDS SENT at 2:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, same as usual.
So I am just wondering if anyone else on daily payments did not see an expected deposit in their bank today. I am not about to endure the grief of getting hold of another overseas rep (this time for Ebay) saying "Okay Ma'am" over and over, and then tell me it's my bank, not Ebay.
Swear to god, it is the year two-thousand and twenty-two, a computer can process a bazillion calculations per second and transmit them via internet in that same second, yet when it comes to money there is no reliability or predictability.

@gurlcat Well, if there is a change to the ACH system, eBay would NOT know that. The ACH system is a HUGE network/clearing house that processes probably billions of tx's per day & has nothing to do with payors. It's not like they would/could notify individual businesses of changes. They would only notify the financial instituions that take part.
Time will tell.

Correct. -2 A.M. on Monday mornings. And those of us with decent banks had those deposits the same day (for me, usually at 11:05 AM sometimes 11:35 AM). But what rat-packz seems to be saying is the ACH has changed to where they now process beginning Monday morning like usual but then does some repeating goofy thing (I don't understand what s/he meant in that part) and it results in the money not being accessible in sellers' bank accounts until Tuesday, and not even in the daytime but evening. Again, I hope s/he is incorrect.

I can't help you with that unless you can give me more information. The ACH system has NEVER been open on weekends and has NEVER processed weekend Payouts on the weekend. They ALWAYS have started their journey to your bank on Monday morning.
So if something else is happening, you will need to give more specifics as I don't have a clue as to what you are referring to.

Don't you think those financial institutions would notify their customers, like one as big as Ebay?

No. The ACH is a bit like the "cloud", a huge somewhat kluje network. Quasi-governmental IIRC, though it's been years since I worked in banking, so could be mis-remembering the quasi-govermental part. I really don't think a change (which I actually don't think occured) at that level, would trickle down to consumers unless it was so massive that the news media felt it s/b reported.

I don't understand why you think anybody here said they were ever open on the weekends, or processed payments on the weekends. Nobody including me said that. In fact I affirmed what you said, that YES the process begins in the A.M. of Monday, and always has.

Yes they did something wrong.
We will never know what it was.
Period!

Are you assuming the ACH did had something go wrong or do we know they did? How do you know it was not an Ebay issue? The two are NOT the same.
Period.

Nope, I had one question of a different poster who stated something about this. You decided to step in on the conversation, which is fine, but don't then be rude with me because you can't or don't want to answer the question. It wasn't submitted to you originally.

In message #126 the person with the handle pack-ratz claimed to have some kind of insider information about a change occurring, and that this past weekend was the first weekend reflecting that change, as if it will happen every weekend. If you read their post it's not even crystal clear if I'm reading what they said correctly, and I asked for clarification but they haven't come back. Frankly I'm hoping they're just talking out their wazoo, and that it really was just a one-time glitch, as ebay claimed.

I read through this whole thread and have a couple of theories for what has happened. I may be very wrong of course.
1. EBay did an upgrade that didn't work so had to go back to a previous version. Which may have been corrupted in the meantime and caused the payment transactions to fail. Then they needed a couple of days to fix the new 1.1 or 1.2 or whatever. Or...
2. There was a serious hack attempt on eBay or on Adyen, which eBay stopped by suspending transactions. After the huge hack of quite a few years ago they probably didn't want to let that info out, if true.
I can think of a few more scenarios, but will sound like a conspiracy theorist...lol.
One poster said that a CSR 'saw' pending payments, but then another didn't? If the eBay techs were tweaking whatever was wrong, that would account for it.

Yeah that was me, the first bank CSR I talked to said she could see the two deposits as pending, but the second one said she couldn't, and that was just 45 minutes or so later. Now ME, I never could see pending deposits, and I was looking at my account screen right when that first CSR said she could see them. Of course it wouldn't be a surprise if employees can see things that customers can't, NOR would it wouldn't be a surprise if she just totally made it up, to make me feel reassured and get me off the phone (like ebay CSR's do, ha).
But anyway, your theories are no more bonkers than any others!

Even worse: Recently I did a sale and now find out that my payment is on hold, for a review. It may take up to thirty days before I get paid....
I don't understand the reason for it. Reviews are OK, but interfering in a transaction is absolutely not OK.
I'm selling and buying on eBay as a private person for 23 years, over 2000 transactions and 100% feedback.
Never had a problem.
And suddenly eBay grabs the right of retention of funds, which feels highly illegal to me. After all, it is my money!
Is eBay using the review argument for delaying payments because they have trouble to do payouts or maybe financial problems occurring?
I think it is time to look for a new sales platform, but first I shall look if it is not owned by eBay.....
