I received a birthday gift of PJs the other week purchased from an on line merchant whose name begins with Q. In the package was a pre-printed return label in case I wanted to return them.
What was most interesting was that the label clearly stated that if I chose to return them, a set fee of $6.95 would be deducted from the purchase price.
So it seems that is one way an on line company with large sales handles returns....you get a refund but they deduct a shipping fee from the cost.
Of course I will not be returning them...it is a really nice set and did not pay for them myself...but thought it was a different way to handle returns ....though it would not be permitted on eBay.

That's how QVC works, but they sell (and price) their own in stock items. It's not going work with eBay as they can't enforce that type of policy across a myriad of individual sellers - especially now with the push for free return shipping.

I have purchased from various online retailers that do the same thing. The label isn't always sent with the order, you can print one from the retailers website. IIRC Nordstrom used to do this before they switched to free returns.
