Another eBay seller threatens to report me because I would not let them send me a shipping label

We have been sellers for over 10 years, we have never had another seller tell us they would by an item but wanted to send their own shipping label. The item was listed with calculated shipping. When I told them I was not comfortable with that transaction they got irritated. They I offered to recalculate the shipping based on location and cheapest option. I know that they wanted to create their own label to get their discount. They have been a seller longer than we have, so I assumed that they would understand how using the shipping calculator worked.  They claimed what I was doing with shipping was shady and then threatened to report us.  For all I know they may have reported us, not that I am concerned, but should I have allowed this person to send their own label? They have since been blocked.

I've been asked this before from buyers and I never agree to it. But they've never lashed out at me. What exactly are they claiming you are doing that's shady? I'm not familiar with calculated shipping but if you type out your steps here I'm sure someone here more experienced will chime in on that operation.

Is the order paid for already, pending payment, or not even bid/won yet? I have IPR and no auctions so I never deal with buyers in my pending payment page. If this buyer hasn't bid/won or committed to anything yet, I would just block and ignore, I doubt ebay would take them seriously with if they were able to report you with that reason.

No. Sending you their shipping label puts them in charge of the shipment, allowing them to redirect it en route, then file an Item Not Received dispute when your item does not arrive at the original address that you received with the payment. Just say no. There is nothing for them to "report" you for, and no such report will be made.

I think that you could of let them send a label if you wanted to but are under no obligation to and  there are additional risks to doing that.

As far as reporting you,  what are they going to report? That you are following ebay policy? ebay does nothing when actual policy violations are reported, nothing to worry about in this case.

You'd think another seller would know that a 'shipping charge' is not just for 'shipping'. Time, materials, fees, gas all have to be factored in.

Your shipping charges are pretty reasonable as it is. Very reasonable actually. You're not going to be making anything off of those after expenses.

If anyone should be reported, it would be them, not you.

Can you still cancel because the buyer is demanding something that was not in the listing? If so, I would cancel then I would add them to your best friends list (AKA blocked list).

Not just cancel, but report the buyers message.

Huh - I had someone purchase several items from me and ask if I could ship on their UPS account. So I did. It turns out two people purchased items under one buyer's account, so I sent it all at once. They sent me the UPS account #, I shipped out the items. They saved money and I got to keep the shipping $ on the combo shipping (it was way cheaper sending all the stuff on their UPS account). No problem.

The fact that they were so aggressive with you makes me think that it's likely they were a scammer. Scammers can get pretty rude when their scams aren't working.

They never bought the item. I initially said no to the transaction, that's when they became agitated and threatened to report me. I was more concerned about the fact that they actually sell on ebay and don't understand calculated shipping.

I did report them.  Even thought they have active listed items, they seemed shady to me. Also were a top rated seller.......

That's what I thought, I was pretty surprised to see that they were a top rated seller as well.

I was willing to ship with our discount on any of the shipping services. They also promised that they would add more than enough money to cover the costs of the shipping. It all seemed sketchy based on how aggressive and agitated they became, then accused me of shady dealings.

Far to much risk as a_c_green pointed out. No way I would ever agree to this. Just curious did this item have free shipping or were you using calculated shipping?

I was using calculated shipping which I always use on anything over 1 pound.
