Annoyed: Calculating Shipping for Multi-Item Order

So I had a mult-item order and I was trying to figure out the shipping cost so I could adjust the buuyer's invoice.  I went into "print label" and pretended I was going to and put in what would be the total weight of the box and it gave me a total of $14.45  (2.2 lbs from NJ to CA).

Modified the invoice to that amount and sent to buyer.  Buyer pays I just went to print off the actual label.  To my suprise that $14.45 was not the retail rate: it was the online rate after the discount.

Never noticed before that it did it that way.  I am very annoyed though I suppose I have no one to blame but myself, should have gotten the shipping cost on usps.com   Anyone else ever gotten stung like this before?

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Yes, of course it shows the online postage rate. That's what printing a label is supposed to do. Personally, I simply weigh the items and packaging and look at my handy rate chart to see what options are available. In some cases, I already know total weight (and cost) before I list the items for sale. Yes, it helps to anticipate what items might sell together and pre-determine the required packaging, class of mail and weight. I know I keep referring people to Notice 123, but that is the "master source" for USPS commercial and retail pricing as well as Priority Mail box and envelope sizes: http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/Notice123.htm ~~C~~

Re: Annoyed: Calculating Shipping for Multi-Item Order

Yes I've got myself bit as well...

Since I wander in and out of TRS I never know exactly which discount I'm going to qualify for and what the amount is going to be.

Now I go to USPS and get that rate and tell the buyer what that amount is.

At least it was only 3.00.... cheap lesson 😉

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.
