Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

I give 100% with every sell. My items are packed professionally, ship same day and write out hand written note to every buyer. Sometimes, include free treats or gifts. No one is leaving feedback anymore. I always leave feedback for every buyer. In my opinion, someone spends money with you, you thank them. Most of my purchases the seller will say, we give 5 star feedback when you leave us feedback. Extortion in my opinion. Feel so unappreciated. One's that ask the most out of me, never leave me feedback.

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

As a buyer who makes many purchases very frequently (collectibles) I have always left feedback for my sellers for each item, upon receipt. This has been time consuming, but nothing like the time consumed by the new Ebay system. Ebay recently changed the entire format for feedback from the buyer's side of things. This new system is extremely cumbersome and counter productive. Today I sent the following message to all of the sellers I do business with the most since I expect that they will be looking for my reliable feedback and won't be getting it, not because I don't want to be sending it, but rather, because I can't afford to spend more time attempting to make feedback than enjoying my purchased items. I am not surprised that buyers are leaving less feedback.

I am notifying the sellers that I deal with most frequently that I will most likely not be leaving feedback any longer unless Ebay fixes the mess that they have implemented with the feedback screens. The changes make it nearly impossible for me to leave feedback for the many, many items I generally have on my “awaiting feedback” list.

The new system presents me with only 3 items at a time visible on the monitor. The default is oldest items on the list first with no option to go to the most recent items. This then requires scrolling at a snail’s pace (often several minutes - up to 5½ minutes one attempt). Since the new format does not give a date of purchase, I have to scroll blind to get to an area on the list that I want. I would spend most of my waking hours scrolling through their new screens at this snail’s pace.

Today I was able to leave feedback on only 2 items before their new system started acting up. It often takes minutes for a screen to load, then when I go to enter the feedback for an item, everything freezes up and it takes more minutes to get it working again. Often I have to leave feedback and my browser completely to un-freeze the mess. Screen refresh doesn’t work either once it freezes up. So today = ½ hour for 2 feedback inputs!

I don’t know if they changed anything for the sellers to leave feedback, but if they did, then you can see what the problems are. I did make a complaint to Ebay and they responded with a standard answer that they are referring the issues I brought up to see if anything can be done. I am not holding my breath! Over a week now and no changes!!

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

  I've noticed this as well.

As a seller I leave feedback as soon as payment is received.  As a buyer, I usually leave feedback as soon as the item is received, if all is in good order (which for me it usually is).

As a seller, I frequently never get feedback on sold items.  This seems to be more common in recent years.   Ebay transactions have become more business like and less person-to-person.    I've been selling for 20+ years and remember when the system was much less automated than it is today, and person-to-person email communication was required to complete a transaction.

It's nice to know that an item has been received and appreciated, but it's not essential.

Interacting with most ebay pages has become clunkier with the recent format changes.  Perhaps this is a reason some people don't bother with feedback.

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

Bothers me when a buyer doesn't leave Feedback because I don't feel I have closure until/unless I know the item arrived without damage and met buyer's expectations. Without Feedback, just have to assume all's well in absence of complaint.

I've had same experience, few buyers leave Feedback; and it has always seemed useless to leave for Buyers since all you can say is thanks for purchase (in my case I almost always require Instant Payment, so fast pay isn't even meaningful). (in case anyone wonders why I like Instant Payment, it's so I can plan when I'll need to ship ... else you just have to have an open window of a week or more).

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

I wasn't aware, so thanks for posting that.  That may explain why a lot of my repeat buyers don't leave it anymore.

I think a lot more people order online now & just view it as a transaction.  I mean, would you thank LL Bean or Ulta?  So, I get it.  I've even not left it for sellers, even tho' I'm a seller, cuz life.   Time just gets away from me & it's not really a high priority.

I must say on the buyer end, I actually appreciate Ebay only bugging me twice to leave FB, as opposed to most places I shop that send daily reminders to 'rate' my new shampoo, Hallmark card, door knob, etc.   If I rated all that stuff, I would do nothing but rate purchases all day.

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

Wasn't aware that ebay changed feedback selection that makes it less user friendly. Happy that people purchase from me. I appreciate all my buyers. Knew many would chime in, should be thankful for purchases. People don't thank each other anymore...I gave 140.00 gift card to lady that made one phone to my Mom. Never got thank you or note card. Me me society. Take time to thank others that do something nice for you 🙂

Thanks to everyone posted about my topic. Information has enlighten 🤔 me. Still leave my buyers positive feedback. Biggest issue is delayed shipping all over the Country. Memphis TN postal hub is the Worst! I appreciate everyone's time.

I leave FB as a way to both thanks the seller and also keep track of what I have received.

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

Don't sell any longer, but when I did, I didn't think of feedback as closure or as the way a seller makes sure the item arrived without damage and matched the buyer's expectations.  I guess I always assumed that most buyers would let me know if their expectations were not met or if the item was damaged on arrival.

Re: Amazed Most Customers Never Leave Feedback Anymore

I leave feedback for all of my buyers and am delighted when I get good feedback as a seller.   But I have no expectations of it.  I find that life is a lot easier when I don't 'expect' people to do something which is in fact simply voluntary.

Same here.

I've been selling here since 2005 and my feedback is 1586 (buying and selling), I don't know for sure but my Seller Totals YTD says I've sold 2550+ items. Soooooooooooo ...
