Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

Hello fellow eBayers!

So I have found myself in a situation where I am pretty skeptical to sell to an individual and I am not sure what to do at this point. I have heard of buyers who are angry at a seller and so that angry buyer creates an extra account after their original one was blocked just to go and buy an item to leave negative feedback. I have a really bad feeling that this is what is happening here.

I had an individual reach out, in a pretty rude manner, telling me that the shipping fees are too high and that "NOBODY" would purchase this item because shipping cost more than the item itself, and no one purchases items if shipping costs more than the item does. I replied back telling them (in a summarized version) that the hostility was unnecessary, if they were not interested in purchasing this item then they can take the hostility elsewhere, and that they can purchase items elsewhere where everybody would be willing to pay, then I ended it with a smiley face and have a great day.  Before I hit send though, I blocked this buyer because of the fear of false negative feedback. I am working hard to grow my business and false negative feedback could really jeopardize my progress.  They continued to reply back with more rude comments about how facts are facts and that they knew I could not list anyone off that would do that and that 'only babies play with blocks'.  I only responded back with a 'have a great day'.

Not joking, 2 minutes later someone purchased one of my items. This person has no feedback and is brand new to eBay, and I am terrified that it is the same eBayer who was messaging me.  I would never have thought this if they had not left the "only babies play with blocks" comment.

Is there anything I can do as a seller to check and see if they are connected or if there is any way to protect my company at this point? Or do I just have to deal with it and take the potential hit?

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

I think your first mistake was even replying to this person, just block and move on. If it is the same person and they do leave you a negative fb, let Ebay know, its not allowed. But whether they do anything about it is anybodys guess, good luck.

Your shipping fees are too high

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

In the past, when someone complained about shipping fees, I would say "I'm sorry... I have no control over the fees to send this to you. I provide actual shipping weight and dimensions in the shipping calculator and I do not make any money off the shipping"

As to your question, I don't think there is a way to see if the buyers are connected in any way. If they are the same person and leave negative feedback, you should be able to get it removed or at the very least, reply to the feedback with the above quote

Disclaimer: I'm in the US and it appears you are in the US.

That being said, why would it cost me $54 shipping for a 5oz (tops) figure on card...

eBay knows the IP Address used for the message to you and they also know the IP Address that was used for the purchase.  If you call eBay and explain then maybe they would check and see if it is the same IP Address for both accounts.  If it is ask eBay to cancel the order on your behalf.

If buyer used a different Internet Connection then eBay may not be able to help you.

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

That is where I struggle, I weigh the item in the box with the packing, it's boxed up and ready to go. I put the shipping weight and the size of the box that it is in into the eBay system and it calculates it for me. I do not get to choose what UPS/USPS charges. I try to always pick the cheapest option possible. If there is a different/better way to do it then I would love to know. Anything to help!

Too much packing material maybe, wrong packing material possibly?

Yeah, like I said in my post, I don't know how you come it with $54 for a small MOC figure that can easily ship for $5-6 or less. There is definitely something wrong with the way you are entering your dimensions and weight.

For that figure you have UPS ground. That can easily go USPS 1st class mail.

I'm not saying it excuses the rudeness, just that your shipping fees are WAY too high. Please don't take offense.

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

So I have it listed as based on your location from me, but you bring up a great point I just checked this item and I put the first part of the actual oz weight in the pounds slot and the other half in the oz slot!  So for this one, I need to absolutely fix that. It isn't 5 oz though, the item is actually closer to 8 oz without packing material and without the box. So looks like this weekend I need to go through all my items to verify I did not do that for any others, possibly find smaller boxes if I can, and lighter packing material possibly?

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

For some of your heavier items, you may want to use calculated shipping, so the buyer gets an exact shipping cost to his zip code..instead of using that huge flat fee.

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

No offense taken at all, you were straightforward with me and not rude, just giving me advice which is what I appreciate and need as a new eBayer (it says I have been on this for years but I really started selling just like 8 months ago).

Re: Aggressive Non-Buyer Interaction Advice

I only ever use calculated shipping because I don't know what it would cost on my end to ship something without using that.
