There are 4 listings in my eBay store that have been designated by eBay as “adult only - requires verification”
None of these items can be found via eBay search. All four of the items are men's bowling shirts with 1940's style pinup girl art. None are sexually explicit with no nudity. "eBay defines nudity as male/female genitalia, anus, or female breasts where the areola or nipple is visible per eBay policies." None of these listings violates eBay policies.
One of the listings is an embroidered hula girl. She's wearing a bathing suit! How is this possibly explicit or offensive?
I have contacted customer support 4 times in the last month with assurances that the problem will be resolved. It has not been resolved. The CS said I would be contacted.... I have not.
I realize that the AI bots control the eBay world.....

Is it OK to revise the other 2 listings or do you want me to wait. I would really like to remove the "new" listing because it's not representative of my store and is showing on my opening page as "adult only"
Thanks again!
@ci1000 yes you can revise the listings now to say pinup instead of pin up. That should fix the issue.

Have you tried playing around with the wording? Maybe Pin Up Art rather than Pin Up Girl? And maybe change the gallery photo to show the entire shirt, rather than the focus on the girl? I'm not sure what's triggering the bots here....

Thanks for the suggestions. The strange thing is that I have some other listings that have pinup girl in the title that have not been affected.
Just having a hard time understanding the parameters.

This was many years ago....
I purchased several cases if vibrators from a company going out of business. They came in 5 or 6 different colors. I listed them separately by color in the general section, not in the adult section. I didn't use the word "vibrator". I used the words "personal massager". The listings were identical except for the color. The listings were active for over a year. For some reason ebay decided to take down the listing only for the black one but left the other colors alone. I had 2 choices.
A) Obey ebay's decision and keep the black one off the market and continue selling the other colors.
-or-
B) Complain to ebay and ask why they took down the black vibrator and not the other colors, risking having them all taken down.
I choose A.
To this day i still have that case of black vibrators somewhere. 😉

Well, pin up girl in the title is probably not it, looking at this some more. But I think I would try maybe taking them down, changing the title a little , maybe "Classic Pin Up Art" or something like that, and definitely swapping out the gallery close ups for a photo of the full shirt...then try relisting....

Or C, realize you are on the bots radar and other items might be next and take them all down to avoid suspension. (That's what I did after my RCMP collar pin was removed).

AS OF RIGHT NOW writing this, there are over 85,000 listings for Playboy Magazine, of course I have never seen a playboy magazine but dont they have nipples in them?? I have some playboys I want to list, and some vintage ADAM Mens magazines, (Again, I dont look at them) do I have to list them in the "adult" category??

I have some 1970's Playboy magazines listed right now and as long as there are no nipples visible on the cover pics or any other pics you submit they are good to go in the Magazine Back Issue section of eBay.
About a year ago eBay took down one of my Playboy Magazine listings because nipples were visible on the cover. At that point I decided to be safe and took them all down. I went through all of the photos and eliminated anything that had nipples visible on the cover. It's weird almost laughable because everyone knows that there are nipples everywhere inside the magazines. Go figure...
In regards to the 4 shirts I have listed.... it is beyond me what the bots are picking up. I have not been sited for any violations and none of the listings have been removed. Very simply, they no longer exist and cannot be found in any search.
It would be really nice to have an explanation from eBay. I doubt that will ever happen which is really frustrating. Just like everyone else I can only speculate as to the reasons these listings have been targeted. I know I'm not the only seller affected by this.

I know nothing........lol......... but all the shirts are in shirt category...........I thought anything with the "adult" verification requirement had to be in/was in the everything else category? Is that wrong?

The eBay bots were "triggered" by some words in the listing. If you have the original wording you can post it here and we can try to see what the "offending" words were.

I recently had the same thing happen to me with a set of vintage paper dolls. I took the words "Pin Up Girl" out of the title and everything went back to normal with the listing. It was a first in all of my years of selling paper dolls only.

Ebay has decided a womens Pro wrestling DVD with NO Nudity is PORN! This was NOT a bot decision! This was the braintrust of ebay at work again!
However the SI Swimsuit issues are not porn ( Which they are not) even though its the same if not LESS Clothing!
ebay needs a housecleaning!
