There are 4 listings in my eBay store that have been designated by eBay as “adult only - requires verification”
None of these items can be found via eBay search. All four of the items are men's bowling shirts with 1940's style pinup girl art. None are sexually explicit with no nudity. "eBay defines nudity as male/female genitalia, anus, or female breasts where the areola or nipple is visible per eBay policies." None of these listings violates eBay policies.
One of the listings is an embroidered hula girl. She's wearing a bathing suit! How is this possibly explicit or offensive?
I have contacted customer support 4 times in the last month with assurances that the problem will be resolved. It has not been resolved. The CS said I would be contacted.... I have not.
I realize that the AI bots control the eBay world.....

Here is the original title text for the 4 shirts. If you want to see the complete listing in my store they are listed under Collectibles & Great Gifts / Clothing - They are on the second page about halfway down. I'm not sure what everyone else will see in my store but what I see is white space with a broken picture icon and "Adult only item - requires verification"
Men's LUCKY-13 Black Short Sleeve Shirt w/ Pin Up Girl & Day of the Dead Size XL
Vintage Men's DRAGONFLY Hula Pin Up Girl White Short Sleeve Shirt Size XL
Men's CRUISIN USA Airman's Club Pin Up Girl Red and Black Bowling Shirt Size L
Men's LUCKY-13 Black Short Sleeve Shirt with Pin Up Girl & Shrunken Heads Size M
I will probably take them down as there really isn't any reason to leave them up. It's like they don't exist anyway. I'll probably try revising the text and photos and see if that works. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
My biggest gripe is that eBay is non-responsive and I really want to know why these 4 shirts have been targeted and designated as "Adult Only" by eBay. They are not sexually explicit.... They are not nudes.... They are pin up art.
I have them listed in eBay's category of men's clothing, casual shirts because that is exactly what they are.

< adult only - requires verification >
I clicked the "View listings" link next to your name ... I wanted to see those shirts. You have over two thousand listings, so I narrowed the search by specifying pin-up in the field at the top, and found the four listings. Now, here's where it gets weird.
The four listings do say "Adult only item - Requires verification" ... but when I click the illustration - I think it's called the thumbnail - I opened the listing, without going through the verification process. I tried all four, and I got into all four of them like that.
That one shirt, you might have trouble with the words "shrunken heads" in the title.

It would be great if Brian would chime in and provide some information to clarify.

The bots are prudes! I had a listing removed and was told it belonged in the adults only category. The parameters that you listed above (nipple, etc) were followed. I have sold these items before and actually did a sell similar off of one that I previously sold. They are Mad-magazine type books--cartoon humor! I feel you.

Wonder if Brian could give us a hint as to what the problem is........
@dhbookds I was tagged in another thread about this same thing. I think the words 'pin up' are the reason it's been flagged as adult only, but I'm still looking into this. @ci1000 I'll use your item examples and hopefully have more information today or tomorrow. Thanks!

I purchased several cases if vibrators from a company going out of business. They came in 5 or 6 different colors. I listed them separately by color in the general section, not in the adult section. I didn't use the word "vibrator". I used the words "personal massager". The listings were identical except for the color. The listings were active for over a year. For some reason ebay decided to take down the listing only for the black one but left the other colors alone. I had 2 choices.
A) Obey ebay's decision and keep the black one off the market and continue selling the other colors.
-or-
B) Complain to ebay and ask why they took down the black vibrator and not the other colors, risking having them all taken down.
I choose A.
To this day i still have that case of black vibrators somewhere. 😉
Laughing again! Your killin me!!!

@ci1000 I want to also ask that you not revise the item titles, if you're OK with that of course. I want our policy team to review these listings as they currently are so they can understand what and why this is happening. Thank you!

brian@ebay Thanks so much for looking into this. Please let me know what you find out.
Not a problem.... I will leave the listings as they are until I receive a more definitive explanation to remedy the problem. Your help is much appreciated!

@ci1000 would you mind revising one of the the four listings to change the word 'pin up' to 'pinup' to see if that fixes the issue?
Additionally, would you mind ending one of the listings and creating it again it again from scratch, but put the exact same information in (so use the exact same title it has now) to see if the issue persists or if it clears it up?
Below are suggestions, but you can pick any of the items to revise and end, I just want an example of a revision, new listing from scratch, and two listings left as is. Thank you!
402786273361 - Revise this one's title
402786273586 - End this one and recreate it from scratch
402786273265 - Leave as is
133721623693 - Leave as is

Typing in the words pin up brings up hundreds of thousands of photos with nudity outside the Adult category...who knew.

402786273361 - Revise this one's title - DONE - I also changed the description text to Pinup
402786273586 - End this one and recreate it from scratch - DONE - did not make any changes in the new listing.
402786273265 - Leave as is
133721623693 - Leave as is
Thanks for your help....

@ci1000 Thank you! It looks like the revised one shows up now, but the newly created listing still doesn't. I'll share this information with the team. Thank you so much for helping!

Brian@ebay Is it OK to revise the other 2 listings or do you want me to wait. I would really like to remove the "new" listing because it's not representative of my store and is showing on my opening page as "adult only"
Thanks again!

@ci1000 yes you can revise the listings now to say pinup instead of pin up. That should fix the issue.
