Address change request

Buyer has requested an address change. Taking a look it turns out same city and zip code, just a different street address. For an $11 item I'm tempted to print the label and then hand change the street.  Any downside to this?

From what blues have said, as long if it’s in eBay messages, you are covered.

For $11 I would ship, but that’s JMO

They always say to ship to the address on the PayPal site. That should also be the address that is shown upon payment in eBay. That is all I would do.

Did they already pay?

I always reply that I will ship to the address below per your request and I put the new address in the message.  This way, if anything goes wrong, eBay can see that it was a buyer request in the buyer documentation.  I've NEVER had a problem when I changed an address per a buyer request.  Not to say it can't happen, but it's never been an issue for me, and I've done it dozens of times.  I do check the feedback they've left for other sellers first just to make sure they aren't trouble in advance.  But, I think it's good customer service to do this.   Best of luck!

Not only did they pay, but the box would have been gone already if I wasn't in the midst of adding listings to my secondary ID on a Saturday afternoon. And don't we occasionally hear about seller or return scams where a "rock" is sent to a "CVS" in the same zip code and then the person awaiting their package has a heck of a time proving it didn't get delivered because delivery records just the zip code?  So aside from the item just being $11, the same zip code would tend to benefit me more than the buyer if there is an issue, I think?

Most of the time, Yes.

If you are talking about the people who come here, like Trinton and Allegra, I believe them too. If you mean the ones on the phone or via email, heck no. They have a history of telling people that "you won't get burned, we have your back"  then they did the opposite.

You cannot ship it this weekend anyway, so why don't you cancel the order then have him buy item again with his corrected address. You and your buyer have more than 24 hours to execute these steps and still get the package out by Monday.

Just looking out for your protection as a seller.

This is true, but you are not covered in Paypal.

If the feedback looks good and it's not a high scam item - they probably just moved recently and haven't gotten around to changing their address on here.

I get one or two of these a year - sometimes they want the item shipped to a relative - sometimes they've moved - if the item is below $15 and I don't see any flags - I just change the address when I go to print the label. Knock on wood - I haven't had a problem yet.

Address change request

It just occurred to me that I have no idea where to access an address to make a change to it. I'd planned on lining the old street address out and writing new in since City and Zip are the same, but suddenly I'm wondering exactly what information is in a bar code that might send it to the old address any way.

If you're using ebay labels, there is an edit button next to their address. I just did one 2 days ago. A low price item. I've done it a few times and never had a problem

The blues don't work for paypal. It's  bad advise if they don't advise you that you may not be be covered on paypal or tell you that you are "covered" on ebay only.

You are only covered (protected) on paypal if you ship to the seller protected paypal address that the buyer shows on the paypal payment.

I usually cancel these for bad address and have buyer repurchase.

For low value items you may want to take the risk and ship the item
