Hi, I recently started using shopify to create my listings and it seems that shopify doesn't not allow sellers to use the best offer on their listing because the inventory API the use from ebay does not have this. I was able to work around this previously because I could edit these listings on ebay and add the best offer to the listing. However as a few days ago I am no longer able to edit these listings and add the best offer to the listing or make any edits from ebay listings created through shopify. This leaves me with no options to use the best offer options which is a crucial part of my full time ebay busines. The weird part is in talking to ebay and shopify it they are acting is if other sellers are not stating complaints of this issue and I find it hard to belive I'm the only one dealing with this. I have reach out the ebay and they said they are researching it and will be in touch. But in the meantime I really need to find a solution or a work around otherwise it going to end up rednering the shopify site I created somewhat useless. If anyone has any input and can offer assistance it would be greatly appreciated, thank you
It looks like there's a problem with this listing.

There is an old joke:
Guy walks into a doctor’s office and says it hurts when I raise my arm.
The doctor says then don’t raise your arm.
If shopify won’t let you use the best offer then don’t use shopify
There are many other third party listing tools. Problem solved.

I don't see why Ebay would feel a responsibility to change anything here so that your Shopify listings can be as you want them.
The responses from both Ebay and Shopify tell you it is not their priority or concern.

the problem is I have hundreds of listing that I've already created via shopify that took a good amount of my time and my website is built on shopify. I understand I may have to resort to what you are suggesting but was hoping there may be another option to salvage the work I have put in thus far, thank you

I'm dealing with THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!
eBay has completely elimiated my ability to accept offers. As you said their listing API does not have offers as an option that can be selected, and when editing one osf the listings it created on eBay I am presented with the error message you stated above when I try to add offers.
I emailed eBay Connect support and was told that they would suggest to their developers to add offers in the future. The simple workaround of editing my listing on eBay to add offers was working fine for me for many months, why they chose to change it now for the much worse is a complete mystery.
There is literally NO workaround.
Like you I built my store on Shopify and have 3000 listed products. To move to another platform now for this reason would be an enormous hassle, I'm better off living without offers but it's far from an ideal solution.
If anyone has any idea how we can get around this ludicrous restriction please let us know!

well at least Iknow I'm not the only one, I had a team member from the coneirge said they would do a deeper look into it and get back to me last thursday, I'm hoping to maybe hear something back tomorrow otherwise I'll put in aother call. My business is at a stand still until I get this fixed and this is pretty much my businest season so quite the frustration.

Since Ebay and Shopify are basically in bed together one would think they would have worked out all the details. I don't know which one made the first advance but they do have a relationship so it should be of concern to both companies to make it work.

I understand but as you see they are at an impasse. Most likely neither feels a huge responsibility to incur tech expense on the other's behalf~they may not feel this is a significant enough discrepancy.

this issue popped up just a few day ago, I spoke at length to a conceirge rep and they did seems concerned and sent me a copy of the message that was sent to the tech team and it was very thorough. So I do believe the have some concern but I'm not sure if that will end up meaning anything in regards to haveing anything changed but I remain hopeful

From what I’ve been told it actually is eBays problem not Shopify’s because the api the eBay proceeds to Shopify does not include the best offer option
i hear what you are saying but the best offer for me is important to my listing and overal business. Each business is different no doubt, thansk for your insight, hoping there might be some sort of work around I can find

This is ABSOLUTELY eBay's fault and problem. They write the eBay sales channel software which is a bridge between Shopify and eBay. A representative at eBay connect support which provides support for the shopify eBay sales channel told me that they would submit my suggestion to the developers. Basically we're SOL.

2 things occur to me.......... put a solicitation IN the listing to send a best offer........ Make it simple and uniform so you can bulk edit it out...... you can add it in bulk.
Have you tried a doing sell similar and then adding b/o to it to see if that's possible?

I thought about this, how would the buyer send an offer?
Or do you mean they just message me and then I change the price to be their offer amount buy it now?

This issue still exists.
Now an additional oddity has surfaced. Some of my buy it now listings are in fact launching with Best Offer activated! Since the connect app lacks any ability to select this option and it cannot be added directly on eBay, it's a mystery as to why some of my listings are now launching with it.
I contacted support but they have yet to get back to me.
Any ideas?
