Latest email from the boss man ebay. Aren't there Federal financial laws that prohibit these kind of moves by a business? I guess we are going to be forced into managed payments one way or the other. I wish the FTC would crawl up ebay's you know what. I think the action required is to find some other way to sell my stuff.

I KNOW I got an email a while back about meeting the criteria for MP (it was an invite not a required action thing) but it appears to have vanished from my messages.
Funny how that happens here.
yappers, they send them and them remove them from your message lists. I have received a couple over the summer that are now just vaporized history, even tho I kept them in a sub directory

It appears that the copy me on messages doesn't always happen either.
Yes, I think it was a month or so ago that I noticed that, too, and I think it was not functioning for at least a week or two, although that seems to have been fixed now.

What happened to the good old days when customers weren't used as guinea pigs You know, internally develop the program, alpha and beta test till the major bugs are gone, and then release it to the masses. Managed payments doesn't even have all the basic functionality built in yet, like global shipments, charity auctions, paying for shipping labels, etc. Users report a continuous stream of bugs with nearly every aspect of the program implemented so far.
This isn't something ANY company who has concern for their customers would roll out and make mandatory yet. It should be optional, should never be advertised as anything optional, and should remain optional until such a time E-Bay has completed basic functionality and debugging.
CUSTOMERS SHOULDN'T BE GUINEA PIGS UNLESS THEY VOLUNTEER FOR IT!

This is EBAY. Their main concern is for EBAY. Perhaps they still believe that they are the number one source for product and buyer traffic, and if their sellers leave there will just be more to replace them so no big deal. Personally, I don't think that mind set is working for them anymore.
When your item sits on eBay for months, and you move it to another venue and it sells for a higher price within hours, it seems to indicate it is NOT your product that is at issue.

A current "issue" with MP:

Reading this thread made me even more terrified of eventually being dumped into MP.

I doubt that many of them realize any difference - they are growing in the era of re-interpretation and the 'Don't pay attention to what I say - Listen to what I mean'.

I am so glad you are happy.I wish my experience was the same.I was invited and thought,go for it we have to anyway.I did what they ask for, gave them my checking account info, checking and double checking for one month info correct.Name, routing number, account number,EIN number all correct.I have a phone meeting with a rep each week, because my money the payments never reach my bank, always saying we ran into a problem and then it was resent. One month went by and 2200.00 dollars are being held.I am a small seller.I cannot opt out on my business ebay account and downgrade and I have trouble opening a business account because for myself I only have the NJ business registration certificate and the certificate of authority. That does not do it to open a small business checking account. So the rep always tells me that its ok you dont have to do anything, the managed payment crue is working on it.Its been a month nothing ever happens noone else has a problem but me,I can;t opt out of nothing,I cant do nothing my bank doesn't know anything about it,because no payments come in.So I have to keep my sence of humor so I don't loose my sanity meaning, what am I going to do if I end up living in my car with my dog?LOL I am poookie111 I will check my messages on my ebay hoping you have an idea.I thank you so much in advance for reading my write up
I am small but I have been selling since 2004
kind regards

MANAGED PAYMENTS IS A NIGHTMARE FOR SELLERS! WE HAVE BEEN STRIPPED OF ALL PROTECTION WE HAD WITH PAYPAL! PLEASE READ! By removing paypal from the equation, we have also lost the protection of Paypal. If you sold to a "verified" buyer, then you were protected....no matter what! Here is what just happened to me.....I sold an item for $480 at auction last Oct 2019. I sold it "as is" but of course eBay gives them 30 days to return if Item is "not as described" right? OK, so in LATE JANUARY, four months after I sold the item, the buyer goes to HIS CREDIT CARD COMPANY/BANK and files a dispute for the $480 charge saying "the item was not as described". The bank contacts ebay, ebay sends them the info/details regarding the sale, and the bank sides with their customer refunding him the $480 (sucking it back from ebay). Then what does ebay do?? they charge that back to me!!!!! They add to my seller account bill the $480 PLUS A $20 dispute fee!! So now I owe ebay $500 and guess what?? the buyer gets to keep the item too! And wait, it gets even better, I was shocked and had this decision reviewed by the ebay review board which came back as "sorry, you are **bleep** out of luck! You owe us $500". So, I figure when the $500 charge comes through my credit card, I WILL DISPUTE IT! Right? well I can't...because I continuously sell on eBay and my "managed payments account had over $500 in it from other sales AFTER this dispute....ebay siphoned their $500 from my sales money. So, it will NEVER be a charge on my credit card for me to dispute. And WAIT! I am not done! They not only siphoned it from my other sales, they ALSO added it to my seller account bill so they are taking the $500 from me TWICE!! I have a customer service agent working on that double charge as we speak, she says it's a known problem they are working on. ON a side note: check your seller account bill against your managed payments transactions. PAYPAL ABSORBED THESE DISPUTES AND HANDLED THIS ON OUR BEHALF, EBAY TOOK THAT AWAY FROM US AND ARE NOW THEIR OWN PAYMENT PROCESSOR BUT SINCE THEY ARE NOT A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION AS PAYPAL IS, THEY ARE NOT EQUIPED TO FIGHT THESE BATTLES ON OUR BEHALF AND INSTEAD PASS IT BACK ONTO US AS IF WE HAVE THE DEEPER POCKETS! I have had 2 very long conversations with Managed payment reps at ebay and they both claim ebay as a "victim" in this too. PEOPLE! Ebay CHOSE to kick Paypal to the side and become their own payment processor!! Us sellers are the ONLY VICTIMS!! The buyer community is already figuring this out and taking advantage of it!!! And since ebay is passing the buck onto the sellers and feeling no pain, they have NO REASON TO FIX THIS!!! I am now looking into selling on FB Marketplace and saving the 10% Final value fee and the 2.5% credit card processing fee (that also goes to ebay)!!! Facebook Marketplace is already creating a more "ebay like" environment and is free! And since we no longer have Seller and CC payment dispute protection on ebay, WHY PAY FOR IT!!! PLEASE SHARE WITH OTHER SELLERS!!

I guess that we are now entering the 2nd phase of the managed payment fiasco.
I got this today in an email.
You are required to register for managed payments by July 15, 2020.
To ensure that your sales continue uninterrupted, and no restrictions are applied to your account, please be sure to register before your account is activated starting late July. Nothing will change on your account or how you manage your business on eBay until your account is activated for managed payments starting late July 2020. We will ensure you have access to all the detailed information you may need to be prepared before activation and you will be notified of your activation date well in advance.
So, what to do next?
