Account restricted due to counterfeit policy but items passed eBay authentication?!

I got a message last night saying my account was restricted for selling counterfeit items, with a list of six items that eBay deemed to be counterfeit. (I specialize in Louis Vuitton and other handbags that I find in local thrift stores or which I buy through eBay and refurbish myself.) Three of the items in the list had been sold in the last month and had gone through eBay's authentication hub with no problems; the other three were active listings but had also gone through eBay's authentication hub when I purchased them in the last few weeks.

I called an eBay customer service rep, explained the situation, and was told I'd get a callback today at a certain time today. When I didn't get the callback, I called eBay again. This CSR told me that my only option is to attempt return the de-listed items to the original seller. I'm sure that person will have the same reaction that I did. I've gone through authentication problems in the past and I have lots of experience in spotting items with problems, especially the particular makes and models that I specialize in. I have a strong suspicion that eBay has goofed, though I have no idea how to convince them to "look again".

Any advice?

Another possible issue.  Refurbishing a branded product, depending on the extent of the refurbishment, could be considered a total remake, effectively making it no longer the original brand but something completely different.

So if I put some chrome wheels a flame paint job and a different engine in my old Ford I could be in charged with counterfeiting?

I can't disagree with this enough.

Ebay has refused to comment WHO the "authenticators" are, WHERE they are from and HOW they are vetted.

I wouldn't trust ebay's "authenticators" to authenticate a paper bag.

If any of the handbags under question or tagged as counterfeit were bought through eBay and went through the authentication service before you received them then file a chargeback with the CC company for NAD/Counterfeit for the items you purchased. This takes any decision out of eBay's hands. f this was not so serious it would be almost comical.

Re: Account restricted due to counterfeit policy but items passed eBay authentication?!

eBay acknowledged it was a mistake, my listings were restored, and the restriction on my account was lifted. Coincidentally, I'm going through something similar right now. I purchased another handbag a few weeks ago, cleaned it up, and listed it. It was sold but the buyer never paid, so their bid was cancelled and the handbag was relisted automatically. Shortly after relisting, I received a message from eBay saying it was counterfeit and the listing was taken down. The return period for my original purchase has expired so telling the original seller that it's counterfeit is probably not an option. I've passed all of this to eBay customer service; we'll see what happens.

The return period for the most recent purchase through eBay may have expired but for a CC chargeback you usually have a much longer period anywhere from 3-6 months.

This is also happening to every seller of preowned designer goods.  Even if you have a certificate of authenticity, you will still be restricted. LOUIS VUITTON is not happy with the competition and wants us all gone and ebay is allowing it!! Good luck reaching out to customer service. You will be speaking to someone in another part of the world that can hardly speak English with chickens clucking and dogs barking in the background.  Isn't customer service a reflection of the entire company?? Also,  these people have everyones personal/ financial information? The authentication department,  toddlers in diapers have more common sense.  If you are looking to be treated  fairly as an individual human being don't count on it.
