ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

Anybody looked at their Traffic page today?

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

The new design is awful. I just want the numbers. The old layout communicated a lot more information in a clearer way.

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

Yes, I saw it yesterday and I really dislike it. They keep trying to make things more "sleek" but we don't need sleek, we need ease of use and getting and understanding information that doesn't require more clicks and hovers to see it. I liked seeing my watchers, bids, number of questions I have, etc all on one page and then they took that away.
Now they took a simple graph and numbers that were easy to understand quickly, and replaced it with this.

I've been saying for a long time now, people over at eBay need to stop fixing things that aren't broken making them worse, and actually by doing it they're breaking stuff! They should ask us, the sellers, what we want to see and make that happen instead if they want to make changes so much. And you know, for starters, fix the way searching works here...probably the most important thing they could do.
But sadly I don't think they care at all, if they did they wouldn't have implemented a banner at the top of some listings trying to get buyers to go to certain big stores instead of the smaller sellers items being looked at. 🙄

What do you think @zamo-zuan ?  Appears maybe they don't like us seeing things on the same page, to make comparisons and see what doesn't add up.

You know I've been very vocal about the fact that it has not been adding up for a long time (literally years at this point). They definitely don't like us seeing the truth. Which we already know from the fact that they had literally kept the same information and CHANGED THE DEFINITION in order to support their ever-changing narrative of why things didn't add up properly.

I suppose we're just supposed to ignore the fact that our sales hadn't significantly changed all year (if anything a very slight drop which mostly occurred about 2 months ago). But get a load of this:

zamozuan_2-1731093095083.png

Amazing how ALLEGEDLY our views plummeted but somehow our promoted sales have blew up higher than ever.... lol.

Also amazing how our listing views per day went from THOUSANDS... to uh, 12- 20'ish? Our impressions from hundreds of thousands, to 2k-3k?

Come on eBay, which is it? Was everything we were being told before a lie, or is this the lie now?

(Or realistically, they're all smoke and mirrors and eBay has never been transparent with us, which is the most likely scenario if you consider what their "errors" have revealed to us in the past.)

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

Yeah, if there are any eBay employees on this, please dear god reverse this change. Not only does this look awful, it's barely functional. I look at this page every day, but honestly, if this doesn't change, I doubt I'll even look at it. Charts are supposed to be visible at a glance. Everything about this makes it hard to read.

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

Just had to go have a look at mine.

All I can ask is "how" ? How is it possible?

I guess AI chooses the scale, ............  but how can you have 0.2 views?

I suppose the answer is ........... AI  just keeps it to scale.

How can my views be so low as to prompt a chart at that scale?

0.2 views.jpg

I take that back. Another question. How do I have a sales conversion rate of 275%?  Nearly 3 times as many sales as views. Saved on someone's watch list? I suppose that I should be impressed because it is up 94%

conversion rate up.jpg

ETA:

Some possible insight. For whatever reason it appears the above, for whatever reason, as best as I can tell is only being based on "5" of my listings.  That's all that are displayed if I scroll down even when choosing 7 days, or 90 days rather than the default 30 days.

@buyselljack2016 yeah, the numbers have been completely borked for some sellers, first starting with the introduction of the new functionality for the app and then extending to the new desktop Seller Hub version as well - eBay staff have acknowledged the Product Teams are aware of the technical issue and are working on it:

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

OK.  Guess I should not have been lured to looking at that page. Also edited to add another shot to my post showing that it seems that there are only 5 listings.

ETA

momentary panic attack as I realized that I had not clicked on my "active listings" to see if there were truly "only "5" listings.  They are all still there 🤣

@buyselljack2016 not your fault for looking at something eBay put there to look at....100% their fault for launching yet another not ready for primetime, buggy, tech misexecution failure. 😂

You're definitely not wrong about it being wrong, was just letting you know they know it's wrong so you (and anyone else) don't waste time trying to make sense out of something that is definitely broken.

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

I came here yesterday to see if anyone else had noticed the change and didn't see much. So I thought it was just me, forgetting where to find the helpful traffic report. Guess not! The new format is not very intuitive and also hard to read, making it all kind of useless.

"Technical issue" when everything still happens to add up to the correct amount of sales in the end...

In other words, the extrapolation is broken and is making it obvious that the data is authored and not authentic. Because these numbers are totally realistic:

Yeah I came on the forum just to find out if anyone else is talking about this. I dont know how in the world they think this is better than the chart it replaced. Its so much harder to read than the other.

I think getting caught up in how readable it is, is exactly the distraction they're going for.

What people should be focusing on is how the numbers were impossible to begin with, and are impossible after.  They never added up properly. And that they don't even fit eBay's own description of what each of the variables is supposed to mean.

Everyone should be upset that they've been feeding us false data, and are still doing so, expecting us to just eat it up.

Re: ANOTHER platform change we didn't need

I love the new layout!  And the new message format!
Hope they keep it this way for at least 8 years.
When I'm old enough to list on my own account.

@zamo-zuan  I think there are a couple different things going on here.

Some of the stuff you've pointed it is for sure an issue, but some sellers are also seeing things right now where it really is actually a technical issue and doesn't still add up to the right sales at the end - it's just completely broken because the new report is clearly not bringing all the data that should be there in

Like this - the seller who sent this to me confirmed that none of that data is actually accurate for their account.

2024-11-08_15-15-18.jpg

For those who are seeing wild stuff like that, I would suggest not even attempting to really analyze anything about the new reports at the moment because it's clearly just broken and there would be no point and nothing fruitful to be gained, imo.

For those who aren't seeing huge blanks like that, I'd still suggest caution since it's clear there are at least some issues going on for some people, which throws the reliability out the window even if your results aren't so glaringly broken, again imo.

Once they "fix" it...then we can see if the other issues you've been pointing out for years are still there. 😉

Pretty much like the statistics on the Sellers Hub home page recently, then.

This is eBay, I don't doubt there's a tech issue, as with basically all their new implementations (since no testing before releasing features lol).

But considering things didn't add up before, I just don't think we should allow them to make this page "look right" and give them a pass.

At the very least, they should have to explain why their numbers don't add up nor represent what they claim they do. And if they happen to be "fixed" and adding up properly after this? We shouldn't let the fact that there was a discrepancy slide. Because of course they're going to claim they're "correct" in the end, but if they weren't correct in the past, why should we believe it this time?

Everything else on eBay has been manipulated to make it look like "more PL" is the answer. But even before any of these changes, the conversion rates of PL are astronomical compared to any other form of eCommerce, and far beyond any credible numbers. Considering the conversion rates have never matched up with the impression/view ratios (nor the promotion graphs), my point is that the burden of proof should be on them to show transparency in to any of this being real.
