A great tip for those in the EIS program.

I sell with another ID.  Yesterday I got 3 offers on 3 different toy cars. I accepted the first one. Then afterwards I noticed that the buyer was in Canada.  I read his other 2 offers. I immediately emailed him and explained that I had just joined the program and that it was impossible to combine shipping. I explained that I would accept his offers.   I told him that I had to cancel the sale.  End the 2 other listings and quickly re-write the ad for the 3 cars and the new total.   He agreed.   I told him to check out my other cool cars. In the end, he bought 5 other cars.  I ended those listings, added the prices and rewrote the ad again.  He bought  all of the cars.  A total of 8 separate ads combined into 1 listing. He saved a bunch on the shipping.  So folks, be ready to rewrite ads if your buyer wants to buy several items.  You can NOT combine auctions/ads in the international program.  But remember that you have to communicate with them.    I know that sometimes there is a language problem. Thankfully, this buyer was fluent in English too.

I don't know if the box is opened when they get to the Ebay International center. I wrapped each car in clear plastic in case they do open the box and match the contents to the photo of the ad.  I do not want them unwrapping  stuff to verify and then they dump everything in the box.  I am hoping that this program works well.

Nice, quick question, do you have to print a packing slip for this program.

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

As I notice also, International buyers cannot get an estimated shipping total on multiple items from me. I have been just refunding buyers of the extra shipping charge for combined shipping if they buy more than one item from me.

I understand your thoughts but it seems like a lot of extra work. If buyer sees "Combined Shipping Refund" which there is a button for that when processing a refund and gets the refund he would still maybe buy more regardless.

The thing I don't like is how many International Buyers are not buying because they cannot add items to a "cart" and ask for a total shipping charge before the buyer pays.

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

This is exactly what I had to do last night. It took me an hour to pull items, end each listing, and re-write a new listing, and calculate a cart level discount to match my BOGO sale.  Was a PIA to do. Wish there was a more streamlined way to do this.
The buyer said the cart was limiting them to 5 items, but they wanted 8 items combined.  Turns out there was something checked off in my buyer requirements limiting buyers to 5 items,  that I was unaware of, not sure if that is a new setting on here?

They sent me a screen shot of the cart shipping total and I nearly fell off my chair.

$196  to ship 8 pairs of earrings 😳

The box was 11 ounces.  That’s crazy!!! This can’t be good for sales.

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

You will want to consider the rate changes with weight in EIS. Last time I checked 4 oz. was about $14-$15 and then 8 oz. jumped to $25. I forget where they were going, but just be mindful of combining and weighing.

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

You may have spotted what could be a potential Achilles heel with this program.  I'm not yet participating in this EIS program, so my understanding of it may be incomplete.  That being so, one question would be: does EIS treat multiple auction wins to the same buyer differently than the buyer who used the shopping cart /direct purchase/ Buy It now to purchase multiple items?

Your post caught my attention for another reason;  I often wondered how this successor program to Global Shipping would handle lighter weight items.  A very long time ago, I spotted an interesting postcard from a seller in the UK. When I clicked on the shipping to the US, Global shipping showed $14.00! What ???....$14.00 to mail a single postcard in an envelope? I notified the seller; she was horrified. Have to see a clearer picture here about EIS.

No.

Think about the logistics.

Opening, inspecting, and repacking every single package would take what ? Ten minutes each?

The minimum wage in Illinois is $13 an hour or 21.6cents a minute.

So it would cost eIS $2.16 to open a package, not counting any further packaging materials.

So.

No.

This is an urban legend promulgated by people with poor thinking skills.

Just make sure the description of the contents is accurate.  FWIW the HS code for toys 95030075 .

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

@union-hill   It was an ongoing problem with the GSP too.

One workaround was to have the buyer put all the purchases in their Cart before purchasing.

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

The rules, or T&S state you do need to include an ordeer or packing slip.  But, I've forgotten several times and all was ok.

You can't use EIS with auctions per T&S.

Re: A great tip for those in the EIS program.

ok thanks, I have a junk printer, not sure if my label printer will print one. I also read in the sellers terms and conditions, Packages must meet or exceed 7.25 inches in width and 10.25 inches in length. I missed the monthly community board yesterday to ask for sure, I made a huge score I couldn't pass up.
