Well then, I'm not putting personal information in but I want to see how many fellow vendors see the mistake and ebay can't see it. Had one agent the other evening refuse to give me his name and then in a smart tone stated that ebay was correct and I was wrong. Here we go.... Item sold for 190.90 buyer sent the money; to break it down it was 125.00 for the item; 57.15 for the shipping and 8.75 tax. Now Ebay deducts the tax and the new balance is 182.15. All good but I have no money to ship the item and called ebay to see if they can advance me the money to ship. No problem; they took 7.88 for a selling fee and deposited 12.12 into my checking account. The selling fee was a correct charge but shipping an item for 32.27 this is the first issue. I had to call a friend of mine and have him deposit 20.00 into my paypal account which I transferred to my bank account. I purchased the shipping label for 32.27 and shipped the item. Now recapping I owe them 7.88 and 12.12 which totals 20.00. Now there is a balance of 174.27. They deduct another final value fee of 24.26 which is also accurate and releases 157.89 into my account. 3 days later they sent an announcement that I owe 32.27 for the shipping label and that they were going to deduct it from my account. I called 3 times and pleaded with them that there was no money in my account and please wait until January 25 when my check posts. I had just had operations on both of my legs and pulled out the 157.89 to pay for my prescriptions. 3 operators assured me that it would not debit until the 25th. 2 days later after the 1st announcement they withdrew 32.27 out of my account and caused my account to go negative and costing me a 25.00 overdraft fee. I have been so upset and ever time the agents promise me that they processed my credit; it has not and has turned into a nightmare!! A few questions... How much did ebay loan me to ship my sale? How much did I borrow from my friend to actually ship the item? How much did ebay take out of my account? The difference is? This is the dispute and they don't see it. Besides I still owe my friend his 20.00 and the 25.00 overdraft fee. I believe that I have been very nice in the share and looking forward to the responses. Thank you for your time

Why didnt you just use the pending funds for shipping on the shipping page?

eBay doesn't cover subsequent costs like an overdraft fee your bank charged you.
Sounds like eBay only relased the cost for a flat rate enbvelope. Why didn't you tick off to use the pending funds to pay for the label on the shipping page?

Why would they deposit $12.12 in your checking account to cover shipping, they don't advance any funds like that.

They were still holding my funds for the item that sold. They weren't out anything and I have been a seller and buyer for many years. It was a nice thought but really didn't do me any good.

Because the funds weren't available. I wasn't asking for my overdraft fees; just the amount they overcharged me. Just spoke with them again and it finally looks like they finally found someone that could do math and supposedly I should see a credit in my account for the overage. Read it again; the answer is in there what they did wrong. Thank you

They were holding the money until the package arrived. No money to release until then. They thought that they helped which they kind of did with the 12.12 but fell short of what I needed....I just spoke with them and evidently found someone that could do math and there is a credit coming my way. Won't disclose the credit yet but the reason that I wrote the situation is to make sure that I wasn't in the wrong and needed assurance that I wasn't going crazy!! lol and thank you

Yes, your funds were being held, but you could have still used the pending funds to cover the shipping.

I ran those numbers, and everything is matching up with your calculations, EXCEPT FOR this:
"... they took 7.88 for a selling fee and deposited 12.12 into my checking account ..."
I don't know how you figured $7.88 as a selling fee, and if eBay had "advanced" you $12.12 from this payment, then that would have been deducted from the $157.89 that you said you received later on.
This part isn't making any sense to me. eBay doesn't "advance" you (or loan you) anything for shipping, although you can usually pay for shipping from your pending or available funds. You said that you called eBay and asked for an advance, but there's something not making sense about that.
The full amount of your selling fees would have been $24.26, as you reported was deducted later, and the payout you received of $157.89, was the buyer's total payment, minus eBay fees, and the buyer's sales tax. So there wasn't any "advance" on your payout, and they didn't take an "advance cut" (of $7.88) from your selling fees either.
That means eBay did not deduct the shipping label, and if you purchased a shipping label for $32.27, that was not paid for from your pending funds so you have to pay for it from your backup payment method. If that was a FedEx or UPS shipment, they don't charge for the label when you purchase it, they wait until later. (I'm not sure if they charge when they receive the package, or after it is delivered.) That could explain why the charge for the shipping label was assessed after your payout.
So, bottom line, I don't think that the $12.12 you received was really an advance for shipping for this transaction, but I can't explain why you would have received a payout for $12.12 either. And I don't know where you came up with a seller fee of $7.88 that you were charged. However, I did notice that $20.00 - $12.12 = $7.88, so were you expecting a payout of $20.00 for something?
Here are the fees that would have been charged for that transaction. As I said, these numbers match your numbers exactly, except that there's no $7.88 fee or $12.12 payout.

I will say that you were the closest and almost had the correct answer. I spoke with them and they finally figured out where their mistake was and processing my credit as we speak. I'm not counting my chickens but will update my story with the correct amount. Thank you for your time!!

Sounds so easy and that's what I was expecting; however they made it into this disaster and argued the entire way insisting they weren't wrong. I just spoke with them again and it seems as if they finally found a person that could do math and found their error and is processing a credit at this point. Once it is actually processed; I will update this nightmare of a story. So many details about attitudes that I still had to deal with along the way. Times have changed since I was a manager 15 years ago. If I treated my customers like they do now; I would've lost my job and had my butt chewed up and down. Thank you so much for your input!!!!

Wouldnt have been such a 'nightmare' had you just used your pending funds for shipping. Lower left on the shipping page.

It just strikes me that we're dealing with tiny sums of money. I'm sure it will all shake out in the end. I usually keep a few extra dollars in my account, for when things like this occur. Then, I don't need to worry so much. It costs me the same to keep the top half of my gas tank full as the bottom half. But I gain security if I keep the top half full, because then I have the whole bottom half for emergencies!
