I just got my PayPal 1099 but when I check on ebay I get this message. Same as you?
No tax forms available
You haven't sold enough on eBay requiring you to submit tax documentation
01-24-2021 05:07 AM
Well, have you sold enough?
I think it's been stated several times that ebay's 1099 won't be out until 2/3.......so that may be just a general disclaimer........

@keziak, that would mean that your payments that were processed by PayPal exceeded the threshold, but the payments you received through Managed Payments did not.
PayPal reports a 1099 based on the total amount of payments they processed, and so does Managed Payments. Neither processor is required to include the amounts of payments that they did not process for you.

@lacemaker3 @keziak - we did about ten times the 20K limit from August enrollment to end of year through Managed Payments and also have that message.
It's likely that eBay just hasn't made the 1099Ks available to download yet, and that is just a terribly worded boilerplate message.

@valueaddedresource, well, in previous posts, @keziak has stated that they have 2 accounts, and one of them was opted into MP in August, and the other is still in PayPal. That's the non-store account, so it presumably has fewer sales. As of August, with both accounts, they were just under the threshold for PayPal to send a 1099, and apparently they went over the threshold before the end of the year.
That leaves the store account only in MP, and only for 5 months (Aug - Dec) . So, unless the sales volume for the store more than doubled, it probably won't meet the threshold for MP to send a 1099. That's why I responded the way I did.
It does appear that eBay/Adyen hasn't issued their 1099s yet.

@lacemaker3 Sorry if I wasn't clear, I just meant that message was showing for many sellers, even ones who are well above the threshold , so at this point I would be inclined to take it as a boilerplate message and not an account specific indication of whether or not you will be receiving a 1099K from eBay.
You are correct that eBay/Adyen has not issued 1099Ks yet and once they do, @keziak may find they will not have a 1099K from eBay/Adyen for 2020.
My response was a general one addressing the general nature of that message and the general nature of the original post in this thread. Each seller's specific situation may be different of course.

Is 20K and 200 transactions OR if you just have over 200 transactions but way less than 20K
I'm not really a business selling anything. Just downsizing and doing a sort of living estate sale to get rid of stuff so my kids don't have to.
I plan on working on getting rid of much more stuff in 2021 and don't want cause myself problems.

the $20K and 200 items is the threshold for a 1099-K to be sent, and has nothing to do with problem/tax liability.

That's all I have been doing. Selling off my stuff so my family doesn't have to do it. I find it amazing what I've managed to accumulate over the past 50 years. My family isn't interested in my collectibles or my hobbies. We're planning on moving in the near future and everything needs to go that isn't a necessity. They think I boarder on hoarding and honestly find it difficult to part with, but it's also hard to list so much. I am constantly listing' I have sold over 200 items but well under 20K. For some reason sales decreased dramatically (60%) when eBay changed our fixed price listings over to GTC format.

Did you get a 1099-K? Being less than 20K but more than 200 sales transactions?

Me again. I'm in Virginia and we get a 1099 for $600 in sales and up. On PP I came in just under $20K. I'm expecting around the same amount on ebay.

If you are being told that your 1099 form will be out by 2/3 that is not the law. A 1099 must be issued by 1/31 of any year by law. eBay or other companies can't make up whatever day they want to send this document. I will be eBay will never get these out on time.

I just came to find out that my adult kids who collected unemployment owe taxes on that and are supposed to get a 1099G from the state. No sign of that yet. Since the state couldn't process all the unemployment payments are they really going to be able to send out these forms?

OK, that does make a difference. Having the correct information helps. In December, you said you were working to a threshold of $20K.

That wasn't my question.
It was:
Is 20K and 200 transactions OR if you just have over 200 transactions but way less than 20K
But thanks anyway. 🤔
