Bummer, a super favorite dress of mine that mysteriously languished forever finally sold... buyer has initiated a return.
Honest about the reason (doesn’t fit) and perfectly friendly message. She’s bummed herself, it’s a cool dress.
Curious, though - why are 10 days given to get it in mail?

For my last return ebay gave the buyer two and a half weeks to ship the item. Buyer was in the US.

It’s not any kind of deep or horrible problem, but it’s annoying to have a business task hanging open so long.

Buyer has until the Monday the 16th. That’s 6 business days plus 4 weekend days.
5 business days would have been this coming Friday (plus today and tomorrow/this weekend for a total of 7 total days).
Ebay just randomly added 3 days. Odd.

When you start a request on Saturday, Sep 7,
it's the same as on Sunday, Sep 8,
or on Monday, Sep 9.
So the 1st business day is Tuesday. Sep 10.
And the 5th business day is the next Monday, Sep 16.

A possible reason maybe that buyers aren't expected to keep shipping supplies (tape, packing materials, label printing, etc. on hand for returns and they have to find/buy them, weigh it up on a scale or just take it to the PO which might be not so convenient especially if one is in a rural or very rural area.
Any return I have had the buyer does get the item in the mail within a few of the return request - would seem logical the buyre would want their $$ back PRONTO.

That makes sense..... it’s just that we aren’t on the same Math. I have 2 day shipping - but if I sell on a Sunday, I’m told to ship on Tuesday not Wednesday.

That is how business days work. Weekends and holidays are not considered business days. Your buyer is just getting 5 business days to return. On day 6 [business day] if they have not dropped off the package to the carrier, you can call and get the request closed in your favor.

I guess that's the classic buyer favoritism. To sellers, purchases made over the weekend are treated the same as Friday purchases and Monday is one business day later. But for buyers filing accepted returns over weekend are treated the same as Monday returns and Tuesday is actually 1 business day later for them. Interesting.

Correct, it's not the same Math: You're shipping a purchase, the buyer is starting a request.
When you send an @ to a blue on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday -- the blue clocks in on Monday. Or the day after, if Monday is a public holiday.
Similarly, if a buyer starts a request on a weekend or a public holiday -- the request doesn't clock until the day past the weekend. And past the public holiday, if any.
