Scammer Vibes

Hello. So, someone just purchased an item an item from me. No payment made, it's just labeled as bought.

The buyer then proceeds to message me, wanting to communicate outside the eBay website through phone text instead.

Asked for my eBay username (which I found odd) and PayPal e-mail. Said they would pay for the item to br shipped elsewhere, to a friend as a birthday gift and for a $300 eBay as well.

Well, I went on a Google search for a $300 gift card and came across numerous stories on here of other people being scammed in a similar fashion.

Only in my case, I don't what to make of it now... If that buyer is legitimate and somehow reads this, I'm sorry, but you can see why I'd be skeptical hehe.

As said, it's a scam.

Ignore the scammer and stop responding to them.

Anyone that asks you to text them or call them is trying to take you off ebay and if you give them your paypal email they could send you a spoofed paypal email saying that they paid and that it is OK to ship.

Always send to a buyers address on file, otherwise you lose all ebay protections.

If they don't pay, but want to arrange payment off ebay, they are not a buyer, they are a crook.

Never get into a gift card scam or buy a gift card for someone else, the scammer would then ask for the card numbers and your money disappears without a trace. POOF! gone,  just like that.

Always check your paypal account to see if someone did actually pay.

File a claim here in the resolution center for

"I haven't received my payment yet."

You were charged final value fees for the "sale." Filing a claim will get your fees credited back to you. The scammer is not going to pay.
