Hopefully there comes a time where fees no longer increase.
It can become a real challenge to stay competitive with bigger businesses (especially with new admin's tariff rumors).
Still, appreciate ebay for the platform. Just hope it is sustainable longer term.

They have given courtesy refunds in their seller protection and as long as their are scamming customers and scamming sellers on here and if they increase they will be having to pay out. It’s part of the verbiage as to why the fees have got to go up as well.

I never asked for ai tools, I can write my descriptions and work on my customer base JUST FINE. Why should I nor any other seller have to be forced to finance these "tools" we've never asked for. And its a percentage, not a flat rate. Also- From what the others pointed out, the attention to this site could have went to glitches and such. Now we have to raise our prices again to break even, because you wanted to get a part of the "ai pie" with these POINTLESS feathers. I'm disgusted.

I know. We are turning into hobby sellers as well. We have 108, 000 dollars of listings on here and they sell SLOOOOW. Christmas was pretty good though. Wish the rest of the year was a bit better, but we sell merch that is expensive and geared towards holiday type buying. So that is part of the issue for sure. We usually average out by end of year fairly well though, but there is a lot of I am having a nervous breakdown feeling when you get no sales for a week at a time or more. Hang in there my friend.

these increases have zero to do with eBay enhancing seller tools and everything to do with naked greed. The AI description tool is so patently a nonsensical word salad of fluffy generalizations that buyers immediately recognize the person who listed the item did not write it.
Worse yet, is the "Product Research Tool". If you are not selling widgets (universally similar commodities), anytime the tool gets the comp even close to being accurate is purely a remarkable coincidence. It's a joke. Beyond that, it does not cost them more money to clean up the unpaid item problem.
They are already making money with the Ship Cover option, but they throw that in to camouflage the gouging taking place here. Disgraceful and so transparent.

This and the decreased 10-99 threshold are two good reasons to stop selling on Ebay.

I would upvote 100 times if I could. "Ebay has the worst customer service I have even encountered. It's gotten to the point ebay does not even stand by their own written policies." 100% true. So tired of talking to to foreigners who do not understand USA culture and are just their to give the illusion of customer service. Just had eBay violate their own feedback removal polices when a buyer left us a negative after sending us a part we do repair or service. This is implicitly changing the the terms of the listing. That is an automatic removal under eBay stated policies. But after days of going back and forth with incompetent customer service they just blew me off. Just looney tunes and a clown show with their double standard policies. But uh mo fees please.

It's hard enough to be competitive on selling items and make a minor profit as it is. Now, Ebay wants more of your money. Just like the government. I will be looking into starting my own ecommerce site soon and leaving Ebay in the wind for what they are doing. Initial costs will be a lot but in the long run it will be better for me in every respect. Thanks IRS, sorry, Ebay.

It's getting harder and harder to make a decent profit on anything we sell. I investigate price of items that I'm going to sell to get a idea about how much I should charge for my item. I usually have a idea about what I want for it because of what I paid for the item. I am finding that price are all over the board. Lets say I want to sell a item for $25.00. I search that Item and find some are selling at $35.00 and then I find some selling at $15.00 or lower. Well what should I do? I dont want to go to the higher price and no one will buy it, I dont want to go to low that I dont make any profit. Then Ebay takes their fees and I make even less. Now lets top it off with Ebay charging higher fees. Why is it we are not allowed to make a decent profit? We may as well give all of our money to Ebay and call it a day.

I wouldn't mind the fee increases if they would create a spin off / separate section like they did for Ebay Motors and call it "eBay Vintage" for sellers of strictly antiques & vintage collectibles. They could literally make it look like the original eBay from the late 90s, the layout, the fonts, the logos, do away with stupid item specifics and bring back all the **bleep** categories we used to have. Make it exclusively for vintage & antique items 20 years and older...

ebay is nickel and diming me out of business. After 20+ years as a seller, they took away my "top rated plus" discount on fees because I had only 97 sales instead of 100 in 12 months. No matter to them that I never had negative feedback, and never had a late shipment or any other defect with thousands of sales. And now another price increase, to complement the shipping price increases that are already hurting me, since I ship free. Little by little, our rights as sellers are being eroded. I have cut way back on what I sell here, because my profits are so small, they don't justify the work. ebay has jumped on the Trump culture of greed, and I think it stinks.

Expanded seller protections, yeah right, I'll believe it when I see it.
In 2020, eBay's gross profit was $7 billion. You would think they would have used that money to improve or be more competitive. But, no—they spent $4.5 billion on shareholder returns, dividends, and share buybacks.
Look, Amazon beat you at your own game. They control this market that you used to own. They took most of your high-volume sellers and now you are stuck with us. Why don't you go compete with them and sell your own items, instead of trying to push unrealistic fees and standards onto individual sellers.
