2025 final value fee adjustments
To support these and future enhancements, we’ll be adjusting final value fees in most categories starting February 14, 2025, with increases ranging up to a maximum of 0.35%. We remain committed to offering competitive fees that reflect the value you receive from selling on eBay.
For detailed information on the specific fee changes, please see the tables below.
Next steps
You don’t need to do anything, but we recommend taking a moment to review the fee tables above to understand the changes affecting categories you sell in.

Agreed. Why does Ebay charge final fees with the shipping charges added in? Sales tax being part of it is pretty normal for auction houses, although I disagree with it, but shipping charges only seem to jack up how much money Ebay can squeeze out of a seller.

Fee increases in my two main categories (books & music) at the same time USPS increases Media Mail rate is totally insensitive to us small volume sellers! I'm considering losing my Top Rated Seller status because I may have to ship without tracking so I don't get killed on my shipping expense. Guessing that this is how those who offer free shipping on CDs and DVDs are able to sell.

I've been saying that since they first implemented AI. There's no upside to sellers using it because any knowledgeable buyer is going to pass on by. They'd be better off doing what they did before AI - having no description at all. Not quite as effective in masking their stupidity/laziness. And while we're on the subject of problems with this category - why are CDs etc allowed? Also listings with no photos. AND WHY DOES THIS CATEGORY HAVE THE HIGHEST FINAL VALUE FEES BY FAR?

"...ongoing investments" I hope that includes better phone lines some of them are horrible quality. Also make it easier to call would be nice. No AI, no select a number, just straight to a real human.

This is why I will be winding my store down. I can make more working at Half Price Books and actually enjoy talking to the people I’ll deal with. When I started on eBay in 1998, it was impossible to talk with a live person. Then in the early 2000’s they switched to this “you can only talk to these minimally trained service rep” model and that was the beginning of the end for me. How can an online business not offer online help? This reminds me of the internet provider I left in 2007 when they advised me I couldn’t pay my bill online. It was a feature they were working on……
With having to pay at least another 2% promo fee to have your item noticed in a search, it’s getting to Mafia rates now. eBay can’t even take the time to negotiate better shipping rates like every other corporation does. Good luck to you all (cause I know eBay won’t take the time to read this), I with you the best.

Even their spell check sucks

Part-time seller for almost 20 years. Constant fee increases, postage increases, increased competition especially from huge sellers (many based off shore) and the need to promote my listings to get any visibility has destroyed what used to be a good side business. It's now a futile hobby. It's gotten to the point that by the time I'm done promoting and paying all the fees, I lose 40-50%. (Yes, I know that I'm probably doing something wrong but this is my reality.) I've gave eBay years of loyalty. I've pivoted, adapted, changed strategies, sourcing and cut expenses when possible but it isn't enough. I can't feed you anymore eBay.

Sales are way down so it only makes sense to shake down the sellers again. I hope that ebay can fix the search engine so that all items show up. I and others have notified ebay multiple times about it not working properly. I truly believe it is on purpose so that they can sell my promoted listings (to get more fees) and the customer doesn't even see the un-promoted normal listing many times. I can't believe there hasn't been a class action lawsuit about this practice. I also hope they can use the increase to follow through when there's an issue rather than just getting rid of us off of chat or the phone when we are due a credit. A few years ago, I contacted ebay 11 times regarding credits I was owed. In almost every conversation they said I would receive the credits in a few days. I never got the credits and they finally wore me down and I gave up, I did not contact them for the 12th time.

Gotta love how eBay says they are "adjusting" the fees. LOL. Why not be honest and just say what it is -- you are RAISING THE FEES.

To charge a 15% fee is completely unreasonable
01-30-2025 03:45 PM
Absolutely! You can only charge so much for shipping before its too high for a customer. I watch shipping charges personally when I buy online. I've had it with ebay the last few years. I am going to sell what I have listed and the items I have in my home to still be listed that I purchased for resale and then I'm done. Its completely not worth it any more. Just trying to get some of what I already paid for back at this point.

Every company any more seems to be passing on all their costs of doing business to the customer. I've had enough of it.

Ebay brass, what a bunch of crooks you are.

This is part of the problem.
This is not merely about an across-the-board (modest) fee increase.
This is a platform putting their finger on the scale and selecting winners & losers.
Let the clientele with their buying preferences dictate what is (or what is not) sold in abundance on this platform. Let product be plentiful or scarce organically.
It is abundantly clear to me the direction they would prefer to move in based upon what categories get more modest fees & what categories more punitive fees.
In what gets immediate attention/correction/reprisal & what gets tacit approval vis a vis feigned ignorance.

I used to really enjoy selling on ebay. I've had no choice but to use it the last few years to try to enhance my income due to unexpected expenses, notmatter how much work it was or if I wasnt getting a large amount out of it after fees.
The last few years ebay has been no fun, taking as much $$ as they can and making it less and less worth it to sell on the platform. I'm going to sell what I have already listed. I am going to list what I already have in my house yet to be listed, and then I'm done. I'd rather get a little something out of what I've already purchased to sell, but its just not worth it any more. Its a shame. I've been with ebay since almost the beginning and could work on it late at night, etc. I'm just done. I wish other sellers good luck
