Time and time again, eBay issues some eBay bucks promo, in which buyers can save 5-8-or 10% off their purchase. However, the amount of savings differs, in almost all cases, the offer says, for example, "Save 5% with your online purchase or 8% with the eBay app."
This last one I have received said, Save 5% using the eBay app," there wasn't even any mention of any savings if you purchase the same dingaling using your laptop. I really just wonder, what makes it sooo important for eBay that buyers use their app?
Hmm.
Thanks for any insight!

I believe it's called PC/Laptop Discrimination. Received same offer on dot ca. A PC works just fine for me.

Same here. There are already too many beings inside my phone and iPads, as it is. [wink]
But I just bought something and would have enjoyed taking off the 5% - alas, it was not an option, using a computer or laptop.
Take care

eBay is likely trying to use the promotion to encourage users to install and use the app to take advantage of the promotion.
Online sales that take place on mobile devices have increased greatly in recent years, and are expected to continue to do so. eBay probably hopes that by encouraging desktop users to install the app and become familiar with its use, that those users will be encouraged to make purchases from their phones that might not otherwise occur if they only used other devices.

Make sure you have the latest version of the eBay app installed.
You can try uninstalling, restarting your device, and then installing again.
For more detailed info about the app, try posting on one of these boards:

@eburtonlab Well, I do appreciate all the information, which may come handy one day. However, for now, I am suffering from way too many entities wanting a share of my private information. My phone keeps badgering me to allow access to my laptop. My laptop keeps installing software on it which would "conveniently" connect my phone to it, and that takes a day and a half to uninstall after jumping through hoops. My iPad then notifies me of an update I ABSOLUTELT NEED to install if I wish to ensure the functionality of it - but upon closer inspection, it is all about unwanted installation of various Apps I never used, am using or intend to use in the near future.
I may be a technical Dinosaur but all I want on my phone is a reliable GPS service and to ring when someone wants to say, "Hi."
Have a happy day
