Improve your feedback on this account. If Ebay suspends you, the new account will also be suspended.

Re: USER NAME TO NEW STORE NAME help!!!!

How do you receive 500 free monthly listings when ebay allows only 250 free listings a month?

Re: USER NAME TO NEW STORE NAME help!!!!

eBay allows 250 per month free listings but in the last 60 days i have been revamping my store i went from under 100 items listed to 514 as of yesterday and i am working toward my first 1000 listings by july 15th i take really great care of my customers and for that eBay has made me a top rated seller and i had a conversation recently with eBay and they extended my monthly listing amount from 250 to 830 so i can keep listing...but ive really been working hard at new titles, better pics, key words, promotions, taking eBay advise price comparisons and more my goal is 3000 items listed by years end and always have at least 3000 items up... so far i went from 1 sale maybe every 2 weeks to as many as 7 sales a day my mindset is on major success and growth i have a lot to learn and a lot to do.   but in short i asked eBay for a listing increase and i was turned down 4 times on the automated request but when i chatted with them is where i got things moving in my favor

Re: USER NAME TO NEW STORE NAME help!!!!

most are yes however i dont mind at all paying a small cost for a list ie 30 cents a listing isnt bad at all and it also forces me to list better and list better items because when im paying to list a $5.00 item and the same listing cost for an item i have listed for $100 its easy to see that the $100 listing wont feel the 30 cent listing fee

@fuzzy_flipper,

The user names "fuzzyflipper" and "fuzzy-flipper" have already been taken, that's why you had to have a different character between the two words.

https://feedback.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/fuzzyflipper

https://feedback.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/fuzzy-flipper

User IDs can't have spaces in them, so if you want something including those two words, you have to add another character somewhere. It doesn't have to be an underscore, but you can't have a user ID with those two words without a space, or with a hyphen, because they have already been taken.

The fact that one of those user IDs has a hyphen or dash between the two words, means that the store name "Fuzzy Flipper" is not available either. eBay removes all the special characters from the store name when they create the store URL, and replaces all special characters and spaces with a dash/hyphen. So those two words with a space, or with any character at all, are not available because they would be considered to be the same as the user ID "fuzzy-flipper".

The easiest way to resolve this issue would be to add some numbers to the user ID, or just to your store name. This is why so many eBay user IDs end with numbers, or a number.

I am having this issue too. I wanted to convert my non subscription store to a subscription account.
But it is telling me that the user name Desert Rose Vintage is already taken and won't allow me to register a store subscription with that name.

I did several different searches and can't find anyone else on eBay with this user name, other than me, this is what is confusing.

Then I changed my non-subscription store user name to Desert Rose Vintage Las Vegas, hoping by doing that it would open up the name (without the Las Vegas appended) for the subscription store. But that didn't work; I'm still getting the user name is taken message. I would be OK with that if I were able to locate another store with the same username, but have not been able to. Maybe it's an inactive store?

@wild_findingz,

It looks like you just changed your user ID, and added the last two words to it. In your case, I don't think it is another person's user ID that is the issue. You're allowed to use a store name that is the same as your own user ID, just not someone else's.

I couldn't find any other user IDs that only have different characters between the words, but it's possible that there is a user ID that is inactive, and that would stop you from using it as well. If a user ID or store name is changed, the previous user ID is blocked from use for 30 days, but if an account is NARU, then the user ID is blocked forever unless it is deleted.

"Desert Rose" is a well known pattern of china, made by Franciscan, and it is protected by trademark. so that is probably the problem. Your store name would need to be different from that in some way. You can't use another company's trademark as your store name.

Re: USER NAME TO NEW STORE NAME help!!!!

Yes, I've heard of the Desert Rose china pattern, however I don't think that TM would preclude me from using it as a store name, since the word Vintage is appended to my version of the name. Another restaurant can't open as McDonald's, but someone could open a dry cleaner's with the name McDonald's Cleaners as there would be no brand confusion in that case. No one would likely confuse an ebay store with the Desert Rose china pattern. Another consideration is that I did have it as an account username for a couple of months with no issues.

Unfortunately, it's eBay's interpretation that matters, not yours. The rules for user IDs are not the same as the rules for store names, so that argument doesn't work either. But, the final nail in the coffin, is that this isn't a debate. If you tried to use that store name, and eBay wouldn't let you, then you're out of luck.  There's no way to file an appeal. You will have to use something else

Unless you can find another store name and/or user ID that eBay will allow you to use, I'm afraid you're going to be out of luck.

Re: USER NAME TO NEW STORE NAME help!!!!

Yeah, I did find a Desert Rose Emporium store, which though isn't exactly the same, could cause some trouble down the line. Currently having Chat GPT help me find a name, unfortunately many of its suggestions are already taken too. My store is tiny so it isn't going to make much difference to change the name now; the challenge is finding something unique.

Rather than trying to debate I was trying to figure out of there was a possibility that eBay was basing the decision on my previous store name (which was in fact somewhat different than the china pattern name, as per your initial suggestion that I change it in some way—I already had;) or basing its decision upon a store whose claim to the name was perhaps soon to expire.

But since they give no further information as to why the name request is denied, other than stating that it is already taken, ultimately there is no other option but to pick another name, or wait a few weeks/ months and check again to see if it opens up in the future.

It would be nice if there was a way to have a human being who works at eBay look into it; perhaps they could shed some light on whether it would be worth waiting for a particular name, or whether such a wait would be pointless. I'm leaning toward the latter, especially now that I saw Desert Rose Emporium's store.
