@fuzzy_flipper wrote:yes i am frustrated with the issue and even when i contacted eBay even the eBay agent couldnt help with me just having the simple name change i want "Fuzzy Flipper" but eBay asked me to put that underscore in it and thats the only way it would work and even eBay didnt know why
The user names "fuzzyflipper" and "fuzzy-flipper" have already been taken, that's why you had to have a different character between the two words.
https://feedback.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/fuzzyflipper
https://feedback.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/fuzzy-flipper
User IDs can't have spaces in them, so if you want something including those two words, you have to add another character somewhere. It doesn't have to be an underscore, but you can't have a user ID with those two words without a space, or with a hyphen, because they have already been taken.
The fact that one of those user IDs has a hyphen or dash between the two words, means that the store name "Fuzzy Flipper" is not available either. eBay removes all the special characters from the store name when they create the store URL, and replaces all special characters and spaces with a dash/hyphen. So those two words with a space, or with any character at all, are not available because they would be considered to be the same as the user ID "fuzzy-flipper".
The easiest way to resolve this issue would be to add some numbers to the user ID, or just to your store name. This is why so many eBay user IDs end with numbers, or a number.

Are you trying to open a second store with the fuzzy_flipper ID?
Every store will need a separate eBay ID.
Be careful not to spread yourself too thin.

no i dont have a store i just have a user account i dont pay a monthly store fee i just pay seller fees i just want to open a store using the name i have established

I suggest not opening a new store but do the monthly store with unlimited listings and list a lot more.
You are not selling enough items each month which is why you have a low feedback rating of 95.3.
Another negative feedback or two might hurt this account which you have established already.

ok so are u saying if i open a store i lose my user account?
and how do i open a " monthly store with unlimited listings?"
im so confused ugh grrrrrr
thank u so much for ur help

I agree with the previous posters and get your account improved. It doesn’t take much to hurt you when you have limited feedback
I have the basic store..$29.95 a month, 1000 fixed priced listings, and some free auctions. It works fine for me. I would love to open another one, but am holding off until business improves.

I pay $21.95 a month to list more than I can list. I have 2500+ so far. I just don't have the time to keep listing which I can. You just click into your now account which you have now and change it to a store. It's called a store but not really a store. Just able to list more...it is limited to something like thousands.

Replying to myself. I also pay 21.95

thats exactly what i have been doing is revamping i have been updating price comparisons, pictures, titles, doing promotions, taking advantage of what eBay suggests and i have been listing every single day to show activity and growth according to eBay im doing great at my improvements... so i though ok ill open a monthly $27.95 a month store with 1000 listings and so when i went to do that it asked for my store name so i put in my user name that i have been working so hard at and have top seller staus and feedback etc and it gave me an error stating that the name i entered is being used and im like well duh yeah its mine its me helloooo SO NOW WHAT DO I DO, im so lost and thank u sincerely

You don't currently have a store, and would like to open a store with your sellername as your store name. This is how many eBay stores have previously been opened. There is not currently an existing store that carries your username. However, if there once was one, it would have to expire for 30 days before you could use that same name for a store.
Unless eBay programmers are currently fiddling with the code, and unless you or someone else previously used that name for a store, it should be available to you. I find this a bit mystifying.
eBay does not currently make it easy to rename a store, so you want to get it right the first time. Therefore, I'm going to ask eBay staff to weigh in on this next Monday because naming a store is important.
elizabeth@ebay Is there some reason this seller can not use their existing sellername as a store name?

Good morning @fuzzy_flipper & thank for the tag @shipscript. This has me baffled as well so let's do some digging. @fuzzy_flipper can you share a screenshot of the name you're entering, followed by the error you get? If any personal info is on that image, please send it over to askcommunity@ebay.com. Thanks!

I believe I may have found the issue @fuzzy_flipper and @shipscript. A store URL is given when you create a store, and can only have a dash(-) not an underscore(_). Your store name can match your username but would have to have the dash instead of the underscore per our help page here and cannot match the username of another member. Unfortunately fuzzy-flipper already exists for another users account, so this store username would not be able to be used.

I think the problem is that there is another user who has a very similar user ID to yours. They have not been active on eBay for a while, and are NARU, but their user ID still exists, and it is too close to your user ID for you to be able to use it as a store name. The only difference is they have a dash ( - ) where you have an underscore ( _ ).
https://feedback.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/fuzzy-flipper?&ssPageName=STRK:ME:UFS
Here are the rules for store names. eBay removes any special characters, and replaces spaces with a dash to create the URL for your store. Unfortunately, because your user ID is so close to that other user ID, the store URL for your user ID would be the same as the other user ID.
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/ebay-stores/open-ebay-store?id=4092#section2
You can choose a new user ID if you prefer, but you should do that BEFORE you open the store. Once you have started the store, your URL link will always include the store name you chose when you started it. You can change the store name later, but eBay won't update the URL any more.

i am a top seller and have good feedback

I am having this issue too. I wanted to convert my non subscription store to a subscription account.
But it is telling me that the user name Desert Rose Vintage is already taken and won't allow me to register a store subscription with that name.
I did several different searches and can't find anyone else on eBay with this user name, other than me, this is what is confusing.
Then I changed my non-subscription store user name to Desert Rose Vintage Las Vegas, hoping by doing that it would open up the name (without the Las Vegas appended) for the subscription store. But that didn't work; I'm still getting the user name is taken message. I would be OK with that if I were able to locate another store with the same username, but have not been able to. Maybe it's an inactive store?
