Do I create separate columns and use the specific names, shown in my screenshot, for the column titles when using calculated shipping?
When you hover over this column (Shipping Profile Name) in the first screenshot, you see the details in my 2nd screenshot with the red arrow.
And, is there an updated user guide? Link, please. Thanks!

I have a working template and will post a tutorial as soon as a few errors are cleared up.

Here is a .pdf that should help you. Page 45.

Yes, you need to add columns with the correct headers.

@danli-3564 Thank you! This is great!
One more question: PackageType field entries.
Where are flat rate boxes and use your own boxes, etc? What does this mean please: "USPSLargePack (works for all services)" - is that a place to put everything that doesn't go elsewhere for these "valid entries"? Thanks again!

Flat rate boxes are not "calculated", they are single rate, so you would not use those with calculated shipping, although you can certainly switch to flat rate when printing a label if it ends up being cheaper.
The USPSLargePack is shorthand for UPS large package, and that is what you would use for anything that is not first class mail.

Ok so going to play devil with the details, but wondering why you would need such a detailed shipping calculator? Once the item is shipped, wouldn't you just need to know the shipping cost to enter on a spreadsheet? While yes, I understand some people are very detail oriented, looking at number of items for sale and type, most look to ship in XYZ size packages, so really don't understand why the need to build a business shipping calculator? Wouldn't you still have to chose XYZ option when you do the listing? The eBay calculated shipping would already so cost to buyer.

The spreadsheet is for creating listings, not for documenting sales. eBay has a bulk upload tool in Seller Hub (previously called File Exchange) that allows sellers of similar items to bulk upload all listings from a spreadsheet. It's a great timesaving tool when only one or two details change per listing.

@shipscript I'm going to use calculated first class mail to ship prints. My mailers are 12" x 15" x 1" photo mailers for 11" x 14" prints. I believe I should use "LargeEnvelope".
Also, I need to use UPS for some dropshipping I occasionally do. That entry would be as you said, "USPSLargePack is shorthand for UPS large package"? Which goes for UPS AND FOR USPS large boxes?
Is there somewhere it says what sizes are the USPSLargePack, VeryLargePack and ExtraLargePack?
Thank you for pointing out about the flat rate boxes, too!

If you are planning to send as first class package, then you can use either the LargeEnvelope or USPSLargePack since first class package does not trigger dimensional weight. The results will be the same (first class package if under a pound, switching to priority mail if over a pound). If you plan to use postage stamps and first class letter mail (under 3 ounces), you would not want to use calculated shipping.
Sorry this is a typo:
"USPSLargePack is shorthand for UPS large package"
It should have been:
"USPSLargePack is shorthand for USPS large package"
It is only for USPS packages.
For UPS ground shipping, you would enter UPSGround

I was preparing this response this morning when my connection glitched and it disappeared.
And then @danli-3564 provided the correct answer.
Nonetheless, since the disappeaed content reappeared, I'll just post it instead of throwing it out.
There is no new manual yet, but those fields are the same as described in this 2015 File Exchange manual:
Whenever you have calculated shipping, whether or not using a shipping profile, you would need to provide the package info for calculating shipping.
(page 117)
Those headings are the File Exchange headings, not the Hub headings, but I am told they are interchangeable.
WeightMajor is the whole number for pounds.
WeightMinor is the whole number for ounces.
WeightUnit is lb
(page 95)
PackageLength, PackageWidth, and PackageDepth are whole numbers in inches (I believe the inches is keyed from the weight unit based on country/site used for the template).
(page 89-90)
The OriginatingPostalCode (the ShipFromZipCode shown in the manual) ensures the rate is calculated correctly from your drop off point.

Oh. I lost my internet connection. Reading this now.
@shipscript I uploaded my csv and have an error but the entry is correct. Should I start a new topic?
ErrorCode 21916328
Error - Please specify a valid return policy.|
My return policy is valid. I took a screenshot.
Then it has hundreds of rows of this:
line number 928 and on and on with Failure. BAF.Error.5. Invalid Action *Action(SiteID=US|Country=US|Currency=USD|Version=1193)
reading your reply now. Thank you

I copied the info about the USPS largepack and UPS.
I filled in all those other fields already. When I entered OriginatingPostalCode, I got an error. I changed it to PostalCode and that went through. I now have the error I replied with.
Thank you!

Additional info to the error code:
I tried to solve this so I added a second sheet and only copied the first two lines which are the column headers and the data to add one item. I deleted the first sheet. Same issue.
The csv has hundreds of rows of this:
line number 928 and on and on with Failure. BAF.Error.5. Invalid Action *Action(SiteID=US|Country=US|Currency=USD|Version=1193)

Whatever value you have filled in, in the Return policy column, needs to match the name in your "Business Policies" settings in eBay. I changed the names of all my business policies to be very short and easy to remember, such as "NoReturns" or "30DayReturns" this makes it easy when I'm inputting my preference into a spreadsheet.

To have rows upon rows of "invalid action", there are apparently hundreds of empty rows.
Examine the method you used to export your spreadsheet to CSV.

@shipscript I used the template that I downloaded and filled in all the information.
Then I clicked on the listings tab and saved as CSV.
Then I got that error so I added a sheet and copied the two lines from the first sheet that was created for me.
I pasted those two lines into the new sheet and then I deleted the first sheet and uploaded and I still have the same problem.

Hi, I tried answering this earlier and couldn't get through to eBay. I also noticed that eBay is emailing the forum updates hours after we posted them.
I used exactly the business policy name for returns that I created months ago.
Have you tried uploading a new template yet?
