Old Listing Format

Tried the new listing format.  Hate it.  How do I get back to original format?

Best offer can be found on the Pricing screen for whichever format you are using.

I would also like to point out that the icon in the top left corner will open a section of additional hidden options that can be displayed on the same pricing screen.

Re: Old Listing Format

I have found that the option to switch back may be hidden from desktop view if the browser width is too narrow. Below is what I see with the desktop browser open wider, and with it narrower.

Re: Old Listing Format

Hi,

I found that I spend 50% longer creating listings that all flush left against all design norms and are capped at 24 point headline sizes.
I need to go back to the original design tools, how?

I called and some offshore "helpful" eBay phone person said after I provide feedback on what I didn't like, eBay would revert me back, obviously he lied.
When I click on the 3 dots, I get some worthless feedback tool and latest update, no revert back to original tool.
Should I switch over to Reverb I do not have this kind of time to spend to create non designed pages that have ransom note quality.

Re: Old Listing Format

This is unfortunate. I often make judicious use of your tools to generate a larger html gallery, letting users see far more pictures (where it’s useful) for the item. eBays new unified lister doesn’t let that code work properly.  Removing the classic power interface for more advanced sellers feels like a kick in the nethers for no reason. But adapt or die I guess.

Indeed, the new Unified Lister's editor will not support stylesheets or references to classes. Thus, styling is limited to inline styles where some of the CSS  hover action can not function. As a last bastion of independent styling, there is still eBay's spreadsheet uploader, where HTML descriptions can still be added.

Re: Old Listing Format

I use a 32" curved monitor. Browser size has nothing to do with the authoritarianism being displayed.

Are we allowed to talk about 3rd party services here? I would actually pay to use one that lets me go back to something matching or resembling classic view.

I don't think browser size will be an issue for most. But it was for me since I regularly have multiple pages open and pull them to this or that size for capturing screenshots. It has to do with eBay's CSS coding for desktop vs tablet, as shown in my prior screenshot. The programmers must be thinking that device users can't use the Business Lister anyway, so the "switch" link doesn't appear for device users (narrow browser).

It was the same way a few years ago with the Quick Lister. Sellers were unable to switch to the Business Lister if their browser was set too narrow. eBay had deemed the Business Lister to be unsuitable for smaller devices (as determined by the width of the browser).

Yes, third party listing tools can be mentioned or explained on this "Seller Tools" forum.

Perhaps a new thread would be warranted.  Third party listing tools probably have a broader user base on the Selling forum, however, since the current reporting here seems to be from those using eBay's listing tool.

Re: Old Listing Format

I explored quite a few 3rd party listing tools over the last year in expectation of this disaster and found that the original ebay classic view listing tool was the best one! simple one page scrolling with all the info needed at a glance without distracting popups fields and unnecessary clicking. This new tool is so unusable on a desktop, it is amazing to me that it has even gotten this far- I guess its because nobody at ebay actually uses ebay. Although any successful business would actually listen to it customers needs and wants instead of ignoring them.   To be fair- there have been many changes to the new listing tool to improve it over the last year- whats funny is that every change has been to make it closer to the classic tool! lol..... talk about "keep it simple stupid"..... you have the best , most efficient listing tool but you **bleep** off the majority of your customer base by forcing them to use a below industry standard product that nobody likes how it looks or feels??? This is not about change or keeping up with the times- it is about bad web design. And the head of  this whole debacle of an idea, Harry Tempkin is quietly no longer working at ebay........ but they are pushing ahead as scheduled. Beyond belief

Re: Old Listing Format

I was told by an eBay customer service rep today that is been a mixed review and that some people like it..... Then I asked what they used to list on and she said they all listed on their phones for the most part. Again that is the problem with this tool. It's a phone app so it's fine for phones but intolerable on a desktop! No problem eBay if you want the phone app look to spread done users but it's not acceptable to rip it from full time listed that need a higher level listing tool. Your own ceo announced to the investers that 20% of ebay sellers make up 80% of eBay sales...... Those full time listers do NOT use phones to run their business! Why put a stumbling block in front of the people who provide 80% of ebay's sales? (Not 80% of revenue.... eBay makes more on managed payments, off-site advertising, promoted listings, and selling user data than actual fvf....)

Re: Old Listing Format

There happens to be a certain marketplace that is primarily mobile, one which happens to be stealing marketshare. This is no more than a thinly veiled attempt at trying to get those sellers here, while simultaneously pissing off their current marketbase.

Of the ones you tried, if you absolutely had to choose one, which would you use?

Re: Old Listing Format

The best one I found was inkfrog, because I could import my current eBay listings and then send them to a website or another platform as well. If eBay is going to force me to post for a3rd party tool to list on eBay, then my listings will be on other platforms as competition to ebay as well! That being said... The classic listing tool on eBay was still far better and more well thought out..... Such a shame they dont care that they have the best listing tool but want to throw it away for a phone app that everyone HATES
