Not looking forward to the "new listing experience" that Ebay is "excited" to bring me.

I'm referring to the coming New Listing Tool that apparently, from what I have been reading, is less intuitive, with sub-sub menus hiding commonly used links, and overall takes up more time and effort to list an item.

It showed up a few weeks ago on my account and I immediately chose the "use classic version" or whatever the link to change it back was called. I am dreading the day when the "exciting new listing experience" will come.

Thanks. I just needed to preemptively vent.

Resistance is futile. I will be assimilated.

I love that they got rid of some of the popup boxes- they need to continue and get rid of the rest. Nothing can beat a simple scroll down the page and fill in the blanks listing flow. Anytime that you have to leave the main flow it adds additional clicks and time and annoyances.  I'm not saying its a race but the whole unified listing tool just feels wrong on a computer so it is a source of frustration. If you have to do something 15,20, or 40 times a day to make a living and it is frustrating, it makes you not want to do it at all.

Its not that i dont like change.... I actually love variety and change- but only if it is better.

Ebay has done that also- like the notification # on the shipping page if a buyers bought a quantity- great feature that is helpful.   Or the notification of repeat buyer- also great improvement.

Upending the entire listing flow and forcing full time sellers to use a paired down phone app version of a listing tool instead of a time tested and stable tool- A very bad decision.

yup, I agree all the pops should go.  I really don't know what they were thinking adding all the pop-ups..

Agreed- the popups are NOT a good desktop experience at all.

I listed about 30 items yesterday finally- they were all very similar and simple to do- just "sell similar" and change pics and adjust the model # in the title and the brand and a couple item specifics.......

The upc code box would not accept any upc #s at all. just popped up with a UPC not found warning and I would have to erase the # or the listing would fail and not list.   Frustrating because I am now waiting for the ebay message about having to fill out the upc item specific in a couple months or listing will not renew!

Item specifics are still frustrating because some actually stick when you type it and other you have to click on the + to add it. That is not consistent and is confusing and causes the cycle of forgetting to click and then moving on only to find out after its live that it retained the old "wrong" info because you did not click +

Consistency and uniformity within the same section is a must.

As it turns out one of the biggest PITA is the having to click 2x extra to edit the description every time. Its maddening to be treated like a child and asked if im sure i want to edit! Annoying waste of my time-every time.

Im getting used to adding "immediate payment" with just 2 clicks now but it is still easily forgotten since there is no indication that its even an option unless you did into the hidden menus.

Basically the simple fix is to get rid of all the extra clicks into popups and put the simple checkboxes or toggle on the main flow- simple easy to understand, and no guessing game or extra work.

I honestly dont know how a person who is new to ebay would figure this tool out and make a decent listing

Re: Not looking forward to the "new listing experience" that Ebay is "excited" t

I totally agree with getting rid of the extra clicks.

I have the same problem with bulk listing when I want to update/revise old listings. It is slow, it is counterproductive, and discouraging.

There are good changes, the page is pleasant to the eye and some revisions can be done without opening the listings but... if I need to make changes in the description and item specifics, I need to click on each listing one at a time, make the changes, click done, and then click to open the following listings, again and again. And of course, click and click again within each description.

I am not talking about making the same change for all listings (I know I can do that with find-replace), I am talking about making changes specifically pertaining to each listing.

The previous tool had the option to revise with bulk listing "one at a time". It was easy, once you had opened a listing you could make your change, save, click next make your changes, click next until you were done, click "save and minimize" and launch.

I agree with the new "repeat buyer" notice. This is great. I have been waiting for years for it. Now, we need a tool for PC and a tool for phone and all will be good.

I feel the same way.... not because i do not like change but this change to a mobile app look and function is a seriously limited and substandard experience on a desktop.  Ebay has always been criticized for its one size fits all policies and seemed like they were on the path to changing that for each category but...... I guess its back to same old logic. A brand new seller that knows nothing is using the same tool that  a 20 year veteran seller has to use.   Makes sense to simplify the tool for first timers (although the new unified tool is far more complicated and confusing since everything is hidden in secret popup menus), but it makes NO sense to cripple the professional full time sellers at the same time.

Problems I am hitting with new "tool"... I am dyslexic, all the pop-ups are a major pain to keep up with.   I sell needlework supplies, and the new categories for crafts don't give me or my customers the selections as before.

Last of all, the phone app is fine but due to vision issues, I have to do everything on a desktop computer!  At this point, I am trying to load all I can use the old method and am not sure what I will do when we are "forced " to change.

eBay is becoming not a place if you have a disability with vision, or focusing on topics!

Re: Not looking forward to the "new listing experience" that Ebay is "excited" t

I 100% agree with you!  I have been a Seller for approximately 19 years; and this upcoming upgrade is the worse thing yet!  I am one of those unfortunate Sellers who too quickly opted in to this new level.  Almost immediately I encountered what you highlight....and more!  So I contacted Seller Support....there I spoke with a very polite and efficient individual that informed me "that she has received several complaints about this upgrade; and that she would submit a ticket on my behalf".  Of course, that didn't solve anything....and of course we never ever hear back about those submitted tickets....even if you call back to Seller Support, they generally can't even access that ticke.

About a week later a friend of mine told me that he too had 'dipped into' the proposed software update.... didn't like what he was seeing, so he "selected the APP/option' that allowed him to stay with the former software level.  I went back into the presentation that I was currently stuck with....couldn't find that option.  So once again I contacted Seller Support, where I was informed that "I had been in to long, thus the option to back out wasn't available to me"...AND he informed me "that EVERYONE would be moving to this new software by the end of this month (i.e. August 2022)".

Two days ago I escalated this whole FIASCO 'up the ladder' within eBay, and I am (slightly) patiently for THAT INDIVIDUAL to contact me NO LATER THEN THIS COMING WEDNESDAY (i.e. August 24th) to walk him/her through an on-line  beta test of exactly what this new level of software will be doing to all too many Sellers.  NO PHONE CALL?  Then Mr. Jamie Iannone  (eBay CEO) will ONCE AGAIN be contacted!

Change can be good.... or bad.    When its bad, a responsible and relevant company will reverse said change.   This never happens at Ebay.  THye always move forward ( which is usually moving backwards lol) regardless of what the actual customers want and pay for.... All we want is a real desktop optimized listing tool that works and not a skimpy, glitchy ,frustrating mobile phone app that was hastily forced on our computers under the guise that a parred down barely working  listing tool is better because it "looks cleaner"

And by hastily- I mean it took 5 years of development to get this tool!!!!! shouldn't it be 1000% better after all that time in development?  It shows the complete disconnect between the people designing it and the actual users.   In  a nutshell- that is ebay. Its been a systemic problem there for many years. Disconnect from users.

Re: Not looking forward to the "new listing experience" that Ebay is "excited" t

I am so frustrated with this tool now that I am stuck with it. I have so many listings I could launch but I start and after just a few I give up. I keep leaving feedback clearly reporting issues, but I am getting tired of it because I do not believe anymore anyone is paying attention.

I like eBay but, what a shame, I am procrastinating listing every day because what was an exciting activity has turned into a frustrating chore. I am actually procrastinating now.

1- Listing START is too complicated. Too many clicks. Waste of time. Should be simple, like with the previous tool. I DO NOT NEED a MATCH particularly when it is a wrong match!

2- The page is way too busy with Item Specific suggestions all over the place, irrelevant most of the time, and an open door to errors

3-In POSTCARDS category, when I put a Postmark DATE in the title it still automatically goes inserted in YEAR MANUFACTURED.

4- In POSTCARDS category, ERA and SIZE are important. Some people collect only certain eras or certain size (standard or continental). Also, Publisher may be important. Those specifics are buried under the SHOW MORE tab. Need to click again to find them.

5- Most irritating thing is when I click on the IS box to type a CUSTOM DATA I also need to click on "X". If I overlook the "X" then data is not saved and have to type data again.

6- I like to use HTML. All my listings saved in my PC are in HTML format. What a waste of time to have to click and click and ignore the warning and click the little HTML box to paste my listing. AND every time I click on the little box to go back to standard view.... THE PAGE JUMP. I understand that people looking at my listing on their phone will not see my HTML blablala and I do not care.

7-I am almost done for today: on the BULK LISTING form which I use to list similar or update old listings, changing/adding an Item Specific is a nightmare. The PAGE RELOADS and it TAKES FOREVER.

On a positive note, pictures upload really fast. I deleted a few pictures just by clicking on the wrong area a few times, but I am more careful now.

Re: Not looking forward to the "new listing experience" that Ebay is "excited" t

Thank you for your comments. My concern is why do eBay Sellers not complain and call eBay via land-line telephone or cell and complain about their horrible listing tool that they have created. If the eBay community unites and complains that they will leave eBay and go to another venue if the old listing tools is not brought back, then maybe they will listen. If hundreds of sellers complain via telephone to the eBay Management, I think that they may change their position. When you call eBay ask the representative that you want to speak to management. Do not settle for the clap-trap jargon from the lower echelon representatives. Amazon and other platforms would love to have eBay sellers that can no longer tolerate the crap that eBay forces on their sellers. UNITE and COMPLAIN LOUDLY otherwise suffer the consequences. The Omni Media of this country thinks that they can override and manipulate the wishes of the people that use their platforms. What has happened to the old slogan "that the customer is always right"? If you believe that the new listing tool is bad then voice your opinion by contacting eBay via their HELP & CONTACT button on the top of the Seller Hub page.

Re: Not looking forward to the "new listing experience" that Ebay is "excited" t

I think ebay sellers have been complaining  here AND on facebook AND on the call in phone lines for many months now. In fact you can see when another group of sellers lose the ability to go back to classic because there is another outcry of new usernames showing up here on the boards as they look for help to get back to the better functioning classic tool....... its up to ebay to listen or not.    They engaged here early on but have since gone completely silent.  not sure if they are overwhelmed or just have stopped listening and moved on to other things.....
