How to remove unwanted searches from the search bar drop down menu?

I keep trying to remove previous items that I merely looked at from the search bar on the top of ebay's page. But every time I do this and click back on the search bar they're still there. This is annoying as I can't add new searches that I want to remain. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I happened to click on the recently viewed link and cleared 15 pages of views and that did it.
