How to Reach Your Customers Monthly Chat FAQs

Hi all! After the Monthly Chat, we will start posting the question and answers that stood out the most and they will be pinned to the top of the selling board for a week. You can also view the full Monthly Chat here

  1. Q. How can I build up potential repeat buyers?

  • You can use the Buyer Groups feature available under the Seller Hub Marketing tab to send coupons to buyers that have previously purchased from you in the last one year. You can filter the buyers using categories they’ve purchased in and their most recent purchase. You can then send the buyer groups coupons with inventory curated for that group.

  1. Q. Could you mine your data and give us best practices for coded coupons?

  • In terms of which discount template works best for coded coupons, in the Coupon campaign setup flow the best performing discount templates are on top of the list. Other best practices include creating a compelling discount that will generate interest and offer the buyer a good deal; send coupons with relevant inventory to the buyer based on their prior purchases and send a coupon to the buyer soon after they make a purchase to encourage them to come back.

  1. Q. Is eBay working on any tools for sellers to reach more customers that don't involve having to pay more in fees or having to lower pricing?

  1. Q. Any info you can give on the "buy rate" with coded coupons?

  • Conversion is based on various factors including but not limited to the amount of discount, relevancy of the coupon inventory to the buyer’s interest, category sell-through, quality of the listings, etc.  As a result of the various factors, there isn’t a general rate that we can provide.

  1. Q. Why did eBay take away our ability to see who is following us?

  • The ability for sellers to have access to user information on their followers without their consent was seen as a privacy rights violation, and is why we had to remove that feature.  We understand sellers need the ability to directly market to their followers AND maintain this connection with consent, and will continue to look at opportunities to address this need.

  1. Q. When will it be available for sellers to reach their customers via social media channels?

  • This program is being tested in AU for a limited period where reduced fees (2.75% +$0.33) are charged for eligible transactions. We will evaluate the benefits to sellers as well as ways of improving the experience for them before we roll it out in other markets. The timeline of expanding the program is still being determined.
