Seller sold to me a used printer that was advertised as new on Dec. 30, 2018. I was able to get my refund thru eBay. Then eBay removed my and another buyer's negative feedback for the same consumer fraud. Thus, eBay is in support of consumer fraud. Here is the seller's ad, the serial number of the printer they sold me, and HP noting that item was out of warranty because it was actually first sold on December 1, 2017.ad stating item is New
Serial # of HP printer
HP responce to warrent service

How do you know that it was used? Just because it was purchased in 2017 doesn't mean it was ever used.

A "new" item is unused and typically in its factory wrapping. Something that has been sitting around awhile is often referred to as "New old stock", but eBay does not have that condition selection in every category.
I happen to have a brand new in the box, fully loaded, and never opened "Vista" computer that I purchased 10 years ago. I could sell that as brand new. But, the warranty will be expired by now.
I recently unpackaged a keyboard that was still in its factory packaging that we purchased perhaps 8 years ago (why buy one when you might need a backup some day). When unwrapping the backup, we found the plastic of the packaging had reacted with the keyboard wrist rest. I remember that gooey feeling from mixing rubber bands with plastic rulers in an office drawer. So, I might have sold that brand new, never used, still in the manufacturer's wrapping, as new old stock and the buyer might have found a slightly sticky surprise. Such is life. A little alcohol and a LOT of scrubbing rendered it perfect again.
The seller should have stated the item was new old stock. Or perhaps they did, and that is why the feedback was removed.

HP does not ship out printers with ink installed. The installed ink did not work.

Factory warranties do not become activated until a purchaser registers the product with the manufacturer.

A manufacture's warranty does not become active until a purchaser actually registers the product with the manufacture. You purchase a car in May which was manufactured in November. The warranty begins in May, not when it was sold/shipped to the dealer.

I think I found the listing, and it looks like the seller offers free returns for any reason. It is my understanding that if a seller offers automatic "hassle-free" returns, and the return is tracked as completed with full refund, then there is no negative feedback.
