Experts,
This is a little thing, but it's causing me a problem. I sell items on eBay for a small museum. Folks donate things, I sell them and the proceeds go to the museum (which operates on the proverbial shoestring).
One patron donated a bunch of stuff, most of which I sold in auctions. Three items were sold as Buy-it-Now's. The patron follows my eBay activity but sees only the auctions - not the BINs - when he does a sold item search on my username.
I tried the same search (as a generic user) and my wife did the same. No BINs to be found. Auction listings both before and after the BINs appear correctly. The Buy-it-Now filter at the left of the search results is greyed out.
Help!

Can you provide an item number of one of the sold buy-it-now items?
Are you using the "out of stock" option? I believe that if you use that option, when a buy-it-now item sells, the stock available is reduced and the item remains active rather than appearing among sold or ended items. If the stock is currently at zero, the item may not be seen in search.

Thanks EBL for your response on this.
All three of the items were "active" with zero stock available. [This is a common situation for me, the donations tend to be individual items. Once they sell I don't have any more.] I thought that since they were "active" eBay did not consider them sold, so I "ended" them using that option in my Seller Active Listings. No difference, they still didn't show up under a generic "sold" search for argy_eyes.
Your suggestion about the "out of stock" option occurred to me also. I found the "Site Preferences" page and unchecked "use out of stock option" and hit "Apply." It came back with the error "It's not you, it's us" error page. I've tried to uncheck that option multiple times over the last two days - same result each time: server error and items still not showing up as sold.
So "out of stock" option may be the problem, but it's not clear that that option can be un-set until eBay clears the "our server is down" situation (which seems ubiquitous these days). I have a message into the Technical Issues forum asking about this. It has 14 views and no replies.
Here is the link to one of the 3 listings in question. It is now officially "ended" (as described above).

Thanks for your help.

Hi @argy_eyes,
Thanks for posting, I'm sorry to see that some items aren't showing up as sold.
I've reported an issue with items not showing in the sold search with some other users, I will forward your information to our technicians as well to get addressed. Turning off the out-of-stock option was a good thought, as that could interfere with it, were you ever able to get that toggled off properly?

Thanks John and EBL for your help.
After I unchecked the "use out of stock" option box and hit "Apply" and got the "It's not you" page I went back to Site Preferences and it was still unchecked. So it apparently took my input OK.
It still didn't cause my sold BINs to show up, but all of these BINs had been started with the "use out of stock option" checked (plus I had "ended" them).
Also, I tried checking "Apply" elsewhere on the Site Preferences page and each time it returned the "It's not you" error page.

Thanks for your reply @argy_eyes.
I will report the site preference page issues as well, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I'm glad to hear that the setting at least changed, despite the error, but clearly that's not working as it should.

@Anonymous @eburtonlab
John and EBL,
As mentioned previously, unsetting the "use out of stock" option actually took even though it returned the "It's not you" error page. Since that change in my site preferences, I have had one BIN sell, and that sale does now show up in a generic "sold items" search. The BINs completed before unsetting the option still do not show up.
So the speculation that the "use out of stock" option in Site Preferences is the problem was apparently correct.
