When updating your stores inventory with a Distributors SFTP pricing and inventory files

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello wise ones I need help

I have been granted access to my distributors FTP server. I would like to update my listing to match my distributors inventory quantity. I have the access and have downloaded the file. The files has their complete inventory quantity and pricing which is in the thousandths of items. I have a handful of listings only.

question:

1. Do I need to make any changes to the .cvs file (as in remove the Items I do not have listed) before uploading?

2. Do I simply upload the complete file and it will only update those listing I have?

Thank You so much

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for posting.

I would definitely recommend removing items that you do not have active, to avoid any issues during the upload process.

The other likely problem is that our system needs files to be formatted a certain way, and most supplier files are very different from that. The biggest hurdle is that uploads need to be matched to the proper eBay ItemID for the revision to be processed successfully. What I would recommend doing, is to download one of our Price and Quantity files, then match the data from the supplier file (you could use an Excel function like VLOOKUP to avoid moving data manually):

  1. Go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/reports/uploads
  2. Click Download Template
  3. Click Source, and select Listings
  4. Click Type, and select Edit price and quantity
  5. Click Download

Important: You will likely see numbers in the ItemID column in exponential format like this (2.70194E+11). If you do, please follow these steps to change the exponential format to a number with no decimal places:

  1. Right-click on the column letter name twice to bring up a menu.
  2. In this menu, click "Format Cells" and select the "Number" tab.
  3. Select "Number" again from the "Category" list.
  4. Among the information that pops up, change the "Decimal places" from "2" to "0" and click "OK." This will change all the item numbers in that column from exponential format to show the full eBay item number.

You can now make any changes/move any data necessary.

Once you're ready to upload, you can do so with these steps:

  1. Go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/reports/uploads
  2. Click Start Upload
  3. Click Choose file to browse and select your edited file, this file will immediately start to be processed

Once the upload is complete, you will see it in the list of files on this page, you can click the Download details link on the right-hand side of the page, and select Download response file to see the result of your upload.

Hope this helps!
