i have sold on ebay a long time with a pretty good feedback, my brother got sick and was put in a coma and it took me away and i took hit after hit on not getting items out on time etc and the post office is horrible right now, i can work though all that ok but my problem is a user bought 1000.00 worth of trees off me, then right in the middle of the shipments sent in to return them, i know when they arrive they will be dead, i cannot afford the 1000.00 to refund and i fear ill lose my account and the trees which i could have resold. can i kick on the fact that he will more than likely send a damaged item back that being the trees that will die in transit. this is horrible as I have used the funds i make on here to support my elderly mothers care, it seems im in a no win situation

I am sorry to say that I do not believe that there are any seller protections with your situation - it does not seem that anyone is dishonest with you. You offer 30-day returns, and this allows a buyer to return them to you for a full refund of their purchase price.
It is just a negative situation for you, and one of the risks that accompany sending plants through the USPS.
Make sure you do not battle the return, for you will most likely make a bad situation worse as it will end up costing you another $120-150 in lost fees to eBay.
Hopefully the plants will still be viable when they get back to you.

No, the buyer can send back an empty box and you would have to refund.
It's not safe to spend the money until all chances of a return have expired, which is at least 6 months.

No, but you have to have available funds to cover any returns or chargebacks a buyer may file. If you don't then I would not be spending the funds until any return window or chargeback window is closed which is usually 30 days for returns and 180 days for chargebacks.

I make sure I have money put back for refunds.

I have a credit card backing up my seller account.
The 180 day chargeback does not happen very much but the 30-day return window is always a possibility.
