removal of feedback

I can't believe that eBay allows buyers to leave feedback without following protocol.  It states in their eBay policy that the buyer must contact seller if they are not happy with their purchase.   This buyer purchased an item which I described in my description it was used.   Unfortunately I did not check ebays  used or new button when listing my items in variations and it listed the magazines as new.  Now all these magazines were from 1994 over 25 years of age.   My fault I did not change the used or new button, but I'm human and did not catch it.  The buyer told me I'm making a point and would not even take a full refund for the two magazines and she was told she could keep both magazines also.  Sellers have no chance in hell to get any support from eBay.  All we get is to pay the fees and lose money and ratings.  I was on the phone for an hour and still no support.  The person on the other end fills your head with hope only to be let down.  Sometimes I wonder if its really worth the anxiety and frustration of worrying about making sure everything is perfect so buyer doesn't get upset.  So I guess that's my answer from eBay no support no help for sellers.

"It states in their eBay policy that the buyer must contact seller if they are not happy with their purchase."

Can you cite where eBay makes that statement?

Purchaser does not have to contact you at all: just neg you. and go on their way....

Seems you are not reading policy correctly. EBay suggest that a user contacts prior to such, but it is not mandatory..

Of course reading the feedback and what you left after: the buyer is correct and you were wrong.

Dont worry about it and move on.

... the buyer is correct and you were wrong.

Correct in what exactly? The OP already conceded they made a mistake; so you can't mean that? Or perhaps you mean that the buyer is correct to leave a negative rating even though the seller has attempted to make things right?  That hardly seems reasonable.

Either way, eBay are more than happy to strike-off this kind of negative feedback when it suits them, especially when the seller is one their minions. It's rather officious (others might say churlish even) that eBay wouldn't offer the OP the same courtesy.

Buyers can leave feedback for what ever they want.
If it's abusive or lies you can get it removed .

I had a buyer message me demanding free stuff after I shipped .

So instead of being rude I said

'how am I suppose put extra stuff in a small box, you bought the cheapest shipping option'

So the buyer left me a neg after they did not get free product.

Feedback was removed with the first chat with CS

And you need to understand

BUYERS DO NOT READ THE LISTING EVER

Listed as like new when it was not like new... That is what happen with this situation;

Even is stated in the listing condition as other than LIKE NEW:   it does not mater. It is a confusing listing and would be dealt with by LIKE NEW and all that means.

Just as the OP said already (this is what the word 'conceded' means)...

Even if the OP made a mistake in the listing, so what? They tried to put it right and eBay should be prepared to acknowledge that especially when a buyer is uncooperative, after all THEY DO DO THAT FOR SOME already.
