Hi everyone,
I purchased a macbook logic board for an macbook a2179 which is supposed to come with the touch-id button that was paired to the board at the factory. If one replaces the original button, important functions like touch-id stop working. So I opted to ask for a return to seller. Seller contacted me asking me to cancel the return, offering to issue a full refund minus shipping cost after I cancel the return. His reasoning being that the board would be useless to him as well if the touch-id button is missing, which he claims he did include in the package.
I am hesitant to cancel the return request before a refund is issued, as I don't want to run the risk of not receiving the refund. What should I do, ask ebay to step in?

Open a claim for refund as "item not as described".
Seller needs to send a return shipping label.
Do not cancel the return.
And stop emailing the seller...for heaven's sake.

Talked with ebay support, they said to instruct the seller to contact them directly so they can help initiate the refund minus shipping cost and to NOT cancel the return, if the seller does not do as requested by a certain date, they instructed me to click on "ask ebay to step in" and they will resolve the issue for me.
