eBay screwed me again!...gave a full refund for a return that was already partially refunded.

Here's another example of eBay's many many broken processes.  I sold a $210 item.  Buyer complained about the item although it was EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED!  As a courtesy I gave a $35 refund.  Three weeks later the buyer starts a return saying something is wrong with the item.  Then eBay give a FULL REFUND without deducting the partial refund already given.  Appeal after appeal and hours on the phone, these people can't make this right and have stolen from me, plus the buyer got back MORE than they paid.  I sell $20K a month so they make thousands off of me every month and this is how they treat sellers.

It's the kiss of death to issue a partial refund outside of a Case... eBay doesn't know why you did that. Dang.

Rather than calling and dealing with the untrained CS staff, why don't you send a message to eBay for business over on Facebook. They are very good about replying quickly, can access everything, and are well trained to not only give accurate replies but to follow through on what they say they will do. Regardless of how you may feel about social media, it's currently the best way to get a hold of someone at eBay that will resolve the issues.

Did you refund using 'refund' on ebay; or did you refund by sending the buyer money through PP?

It wasn't outside of a case.  I gave it through eBay...and I called them the day prior to voice my concerns about this return and bring to their attention the partial refund already given.  eBay just doesn't give a crapp about us sellers.  They're constantly reaching into our pockets and nickel diming us.  Buyers get whatever they want and the sellers have no protection.  Customers service is non-existent.  Many departments you can NEVER talk to a live person.  Most of customer service is 10,000 miles away making a few bucks per hour.

The partial refund was through eBay.

Great idea, except I am not on Facebook.  Maybe I should look into Facebook Marketplace for bulky items and avoid many of the eBay headaches.

I don't believe it's possible to refund more than the full payment amount. Once it's refunded in full there is nothing more to refund.

I suspect ebay refunded the rest of the payment and kept all the seller fees because ebay had to do the work. The case will show "refunded in full" or something to that effect. I would look at the numbers again in Payments tab of Seller Hub.

You probably got a "case closed without seller resolution" defect too which may affect your future seller status.

You have to answer all returns. By default the robot will side with the buyer every time. If you sell $20K/mo you are well aware of this.

You sell a blue shirt. Buyer opens an item not as described case "my 8 year old child bid on this without my permission, we want a red shirt".  You have to approve this return. If you don't approve the return the case will close in buyers favor and you get a defect.

It is retail. My sister used to work in the returns department in Kohls. People would return used underwear and used toilet seats. Then you have shoplifters, etc... These things happen sometimes, nothing we can do but try our best to avoid it.
