You'd think that an Ebay user of 14 years would receive a little more respect. I purchased a counterfeit item and Ebay will do NOTHING because its been 14 months since the purchase date.

COSTCO! MU-HA! Selected items that is and on a case by case basis. Although not policy, basically it depends on their hassle, I've seen refunds honored after a year. Not for myself though. I heard about some Nordstroms return horror stories too. I'll see myself out now 😀

Just last week, I was surprised when my Kohl's cashier thanked me for the sale and let me know that I could return any/all of my purchase for the next 180 days... worry free! My brain went, "Whaaaaat?"

You would have problems returning an item purchased that long ago with any form of retailer. Always inspect purchases as soon as they arrive.

14 months yah no chance eBay is going to do anything about this one.

Unreasonable for anyone to expect a return/refund after more than a full year has passed.

All options for resolution has passed

I would love to know how it took 14 months to determine the counterfeit item was counterfeit...

Oh and by the way, this was an exception and not the rule... i bought some headphones on Amazon once. I hated those things so much but i kept them and used them. One year later I saw I never left a review and left a pretty honest (BAD) product review. The seller refunded me the purchase price for my bad experience. Never asked me to return or take down the review. So after a year, a company/seller did refund me because I was P-ed off

To be fair, you would also think that an eBay user of 14 years would understand his rights and limitations as a buyer.

I didn't , I can promise you if counterfeits was the one return allowed for 14 months that all those scenarios i mentioned would claim it.

In the future try to find seasoned sellers for stuff that can be potentially counterfeit or even better, buy it from the company themselves. If you must buy it elsewhere then I think eBay offering 30 days from delivery to verify authenticity is more than fair. Occasionally I buy stuff like that but I do some from established sellers and with ways to verify it asap. Unfortunately there's just nothing to be done at this point unless the seller was the nicest person in the world and worked with you.

In general eBay hold up like most other things, if it's too good to be true then it probably isn't true. For example one seller has an item far cheaper than anybody else, that's very suspicious and there's probably a reason. Some sellers may even believe they are selling authentic items but are not, I sold some purses years back from a storage auction and although I verified them the best I can one slipped by me. I refunded when the buyer made me aware of course, for some items eBay also has an authentication program like shoes. Best of luck with future buys!
