I had item returned and I owe money for the return. I do not normally keep any money in checking and that is where ebay is trying to pull it from. If they cannot get it from checking will they just charge my credit card?

Ebay charged my credit card today just like I was thinking they would. They sent me an email telling me they were going to do so the day before. This is what I thought they would end up doing and just what I was hoping for.

I don't know if they will "just charge" your credit card, if you've set only your bank account as your eBay invoice Payment method... they might just overdraw your checking account, though. They'll send it to collections after a time if you don't react...
Is there not a field where you can just pay the amount with your credit card?

They cannot overdraw my checking account, it will be denied. So I'm not worried about it doing that. I do need to pay this and would like to use my credit card, but I do not see a way to do it. Seems like ebay just wants to take it from my checking account which I leave empty. This checking account is only used for ebay.

Since you gave Ebay permission to pull funds from your checking account, not sure it would be denied?

Really? Is that something you have confirmed with your bank. I've never heard of that.
Anyway, here is the eBay help page about payments etc. It seems you can add a credit card and you won't have to test that 'denying an overdraft' scenario.

They have already tried once and it was denied like I set it up to do...no overdrafts this way. I want ebay to take it from my credit card and there are two to choose from in my account. Seems like they will do this if they cannot get it from my bank account. At least that is what I get from this:
To change your preferred refund method in case you don’t have enough Available, Processing, and On hold funds, follow the steps below:
The saved payment method will be used for any future charges. If your preferred payment method is unsuccessful, we'll charge the amount you owe to your other on-file payment method.

If you've blocked them from being able to get into your checking and get $ owed; they may very well shut you down. You are not supposed to do that.
Put some $ in the account, leave some in there and get that 'stop' off.

when you are enrolled in MP you have to agree to the reimbursement clause
it states they will get the money any way they can and you are supposed to be OK with it
I have also recently switched my returns over to a credit card when I hit the refund button when a return comes back.
You are given a choice in the return system to use a card instead of your bank if you want to

I think I have it that way now. Changed just before they took it from my credit card which, like you, is what I want.
