Sellers return address incorrect on Ebay return label, insufficeint address, now returning to buyer

Im the buyer in this transaction....Been on ebay as a buyer and seller for quite a while and have never had this occur before. The situation: got item, item damage not disclosed (it happens, no problem), initiated a return where I pay the return shipping (seller accepts returns for 30 days), printed eBay label provided by ebay and shipped it. Now the usps tracking say "insufficient address" and it is coming back to me - the buyer. The seller is a higher volume seller and confirmed that the return label address is incorrect and simply said "call eBay" when I reached out to them. That was the end of the sellers help so far. Its a few hundred dollar items so I don't want to just let t slide. Any thoughts on how I should proceed? Thank y'all!

If it was damaged, why did you pay to return it.

If their return address is wrong, that's on the seller.

It wasn't damaged in shipping; it was just more "used/damaged" then the listing led on. Strictly it was an item not as described but its not super unusual for these type of items and over the years I've generally offered to pay return shipping in these situations.

Given the the return label error is indeed on the seller how should I proceed to ensure I don't run afoul of eBay rules and get a refund. Thanks for you help!

Very unusual for a high volume Seller with a wrong address on file. Something is wrong here. If you purchased the label on eBay, there shouldn't be a problem. As you know, shipping address is set by Seller and it's verified.

Item is few hundred dollars. I would call eBay and have the rep add notes to this file. Ask for some options, because if you don't, you surely lose money. Item is not returned!

The seller ... simply said "call eBay" when I reached out to them. That was the end of the sellers help so far.

You will get a refund @chilligoodman when you use an eBay return label, whether the return is

- lost,

- returned,

- or delivered. 

When a buyer returns an item and it doesn't show delivered within the specified timeframe then we will look at three possible situations to determine the outcome.

1. If the buyer used an eBay return label, we will close the case in the buyers favor, regardless who paid for the return label.

But you must contact eBay. Start by leaving a private message here for eBay on Facebook, and ask eBay to review the return tracking.

Escalate when you get the opportunity. It is the sellers responsibility, if they are buying the label, to ensure it gets back to them once it is in the mail stream.

If they want it back they will make it known otherwise just get your refund and move on.

My case: Seller sends mech via home address Oh. However QR code goes to Fl ( 3 diff Dis-center),out for delivery, then forwarded, then thru 3 different Dis-Cnter fl, to Ohio. Seller rigs her address so package I delayed,  so delays on refund. Unethical dishonest practice. Seller wont chng delivery address on her act. Knows this is a delay tactic.

Wanted to follow up here to provide a resolution. Eventually the package was returned to me as "delivered".  The "refund date" transpired a couple days later and ebay auto opened a case on the refund. The seller and I agreed that I would send the item back to the address he provided. He then confirmed the label as correct prior to shipping. I shipped it back and once the seller received it he had to call ebay and ask them to close the case and refund my money. Aside from a pain in the tail everything worked out.
