I am a TRS. I want to give a partial refund to a buyer who returned item soiled. Prompts don't highlight partial refunds. How do I do this? Refund time is 7/1

You can't make the deduction. You must be TRS and allow (at least) 30-Day Returns. I'd offer to revisit your Return policy.

You don't have a return policy so even if you're TRS, you can't take a deduction. In order to deduct, you have to accept returns.

Thx for response. I've refunded her. Now on to washing the top before I can relist it. She returned it all wadded up, unbuttoned, and with an obvious dirty neckline. And I had to wait 30 days to get it back!!!. Now I'm on my way to block her. I would have denied her request for refund. My description clearly gave all measurements. "It's too big", she claimed. I would have denied the request for refund, but that is a lose-lose for sellers. EBay needs to change return policy for sellers. Sorry...I'm just venting...

I might not have a return policy...but I did accept her return. EBay policy should change and be more seller friendly

I realize you didn't have a return policy and accepted the return but your post asked how to issue a partial refund, thus my response telling you that your policy doesn't allow retaining funds for the damaged/used return.

And I appreciate your response. For some reason, I thought even without a return policy, I could deduct a percentage. As soon as I read your response, I refunded her. In all my years of selling, I've been asked to accept a return only a handful of times, and I guess I just refunded---(but the item wasn't soiled...so partial wasn't an issue). Thx again

eBay wants to encourage sellers to accept returns, preferably free. The ability to make a partial refund is a perk they provide to sellers, to encourage this behavior. So it's your choice, but I doubt that eBay is going to change their policy.
