Return Time-line SO LOOONĜ?

When a return is accepted WHY IS THE BUYER GIVEN SO LONG to return my item? Return opened on the 2nd ebay tells me they have until the 25th to return! So my hundreds of dollars and my item are both tied up??? Why is the returner allowed such a long time to handle a return also they left positve feedback already!  Plus the returner label has been paid! Grrr so frustrating

Return Time-line SO LOOONĜ?

I get plenty of returns and I noticed the other day that its exactly 3 weeks they have to return it.

back during covid it was even longer.

if they dont ship it within a week or so it might not ever get sent back

Return Time-line SO LOOONĜ?

Hi @golddigger21

eBay extended the buyer's time limit to return an item during the pandemic lockdowns ... and never changed it back.

My guess as to why eBay is keeping the extended time is to compete with other selling venues (like Amazon)  that give buyers 30 days to return an item after they've requested a return.

If they left positive feedback it sounds like buyer made a mistake to return an item which probably means it was meant for someone else. I would think of your money tied up as a savings account which can't be touched yet.

I believe but not sure 100%...If return label not used eBay refunds it.

It is a long period of time and since you haven't got the return yet you may not get one.

I find it kinda short.

Amazon and Walmart give way longer.

And as an Amazon seller, buyers will return past the 30 days, heck 2 months late, they will still get refunded.

Ebay is way stricter.

Return Time-line SO LOOONĜ?

Depending upon the retailer, you will see language such as "Shipped/Returned no later than X time period or day". That does not mean within your hands no later than x time period. Amazon is one that has a ship by date policy. I know this as an employee. It may be changing shortly though as all of retail is close to finalizing extensive & complete return policy changes across all merchandise, probably in time for holiday shopping in the US.

Depending on who pays (buyer or seller), the price of the label isn't charged until it's used/scanned so there's nothing to refund.
