Return Shipping outrage

I sold a small toy car in a small light box, shipped it ground advantage from PA to CA for under $6. Seller didn't like something, wanted to return it. Ebay approved, seller printed priority label and now Ebay is charging me $37.89 for the label!!!!!

Re: Return Shipping outrage

I've never heard of an eBay Return label not being a USPS economy service. How did that happen? 🤔

Re: Return Shipping outrage

eBay uses information in your listing to determine shipping costs. It appears that you are using a flat shipping rate for your small toy cars, which is fine.

For returns, eBay should be looking at your package size and weight from your listing. As you are using a flat rate, you may not be filling in the actual size and weight of the item or the size and weight may be incorrect. In either of these cases, the return postage calculation would be incorrect.

Re: Return Shipping outrage

Priority labels are common for eBay items over 1 lb.

However they are very similar for price.

Ebay does use the information of the listing to determine price of return. It has nothing to do with original shipping.

Re: Return Shipping outrage

That is crazy, where do you see what they are charging you?

Re: Return Shipping outrage

If you select the RMA option in return settings, when you get a return, it gives you the option to select an EBay label or supply your own label.

If you select an eBay label, you can see the price of the label before finalizing the selection.

Re: Return Shipping outrage

I was wondering if there was ever an option for you to let the buyer just keep the item.  I'm sure there was very little value and you lost big time with the shipping.  I had a book returned to me using priority mail instead of media mail.  With the high cost of shipping sometimes it would be great if we could just let the buyer keep the item and refund the cost of the item to them.  Was that ever an option in your case?

Re: Return Shipping outrage

You can. When buyer files INAD, you refund without first hitting 'accept return' - at least that is how it used to be?

Re: Return Shipping outrage

This buyer first tried to shake me down for a partial refund. When I refused, he said he would state I misrepresented item and he would get refund and I would be charged a fee. He was correct; eBay charged me $37.89 for the return label that was automatically granted to the buyer. I went on chat, eBay told me I had to report buyer for abusing return reason to “ maybe” get a return subsidy. Still nothing after 10 days but they took $38 right out of my checking. Makes you want to never sell anything ever again!
