I received a package in the mail the other day that I did not order. I didn't even have an account until I created one so that I could hopefully get an answer on what to do! I'm sure someone is looking for their purchase but I don't have any idea how to let the seller know. I have the name & address of the seller on the label, the ebay return ID and order #. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to see the proper owner get their item. Thanks!

I've seen this game before. The jerseys could be coming from China and the sender doesn't want to deal with the international returns. So they stuck on a random name and address, the recipient's, and the stuff gets sent "back". Buyer gets a refund and doesn't care what happens to the jersey. Seller doesn't want it back and doesn't care either. Meanwhile, the person whose address was used gets free merch and a lot of confusion.

You can "return to sender." Basically, you send the package to the seller. I believe that's really the best thing to do. Unless you'd just want to send it straight to the buyer, since his address should be on the label as well. Whatever you do, good luck!

Was it addressed to you and your address?
This time of year we get a lot of Christmas gift orders being sent to the address other than what the buyer is listed as having.

Return to sender is the best idea.
Where, on the package, would the buyer's address be? I assume the address on the package is that of the OP; otherwise, how would he have received it?

Yes, it was addressed to me with my address ...

I don't really care to have the expense of sending it back to the seller and I don't have the address for the buyer as it had my name and address on it. I just feel bad someone did not get what they paid for and wanted to at least let the seller know. I just don't have any idea as to how I could do that.

Bouncing misdelivered mail doesn't cost you anything, I have to do so fairly often. If it's addressed to you, it's yours though. Congratulations on the free package.

It arrived with your name and address on it?
Sounds like you have a secret santa.
If I purchased a package and put your name and address on it, I don't think I would ever notice it not arriving. If I did notice, I would tell you not to worry about it and enjoy the gift. Can't think of how this could have happened unless someone used a stolen card/account and was hoping to retrieve the package before you had a chance to get it.
Have you opened the package? It may have a packing slip with the sellers contact information.

I did open it, there is no paperwork in the envelope. Can't think of who would send me a Braves, XXXL jersey with Aaron on the back! It will make for a nice comfy and extremely roomy night shirt I guess!

Sometimes my kids ship packages to me (for themselves) because my mail delivery is more reliable. Confuses me for a minute. I really can't think of a scenario that an eBay buyer/seller would have your name and address on a package when you didn't even have an eBay account. Bizarre.
The only explanation is your secret Santa is looking after you.
Have a great holiday season!

If the eBay item # is on the label, you can do a search for that item, or we can do it for you if you share the #.
When you find that listing, there is a drop down menu which includes "contact seller". You can send the seller a message about what happened. It's hard, however, to understand how the seller would have your address available since you just registered on eBay so you could send this message.

You are so nice to want to set this straight! Sellers would want to clone you, for sure. It looks like you've done your best (so your 'Karma' is still in tact! Smiles!) so the legal part of this is you just got gifted. Shows how important it is to keep personal information up-to-date! Sleep very well and snug! You deserve it.

"Shows how important it is to keep personal information up to date."
The package is addressed to the OP with the OP's address.
Are you implying that the real buyer did not keep their personal info up to date?
Like did not mention that they had changed their name as well as their address?
I don't understand your comment.

If it's a low value item, it could be just a scammer that needed a tracking number that said delivered in your zip code.

That's a RETURN SERVICE label @kryo-3740 and it's an EBAY RETURN ID across the bottom.
You have an unknown seller that doesn't want their red XXXL Braves jersey back, so they used you as the return address. That's not the "name & address of the seller on the label" -- it's the buyer.
If you illegally reseal the return to "Return to Returner" this return to the returner
- it will go back to the buyer (that's expecting a refund) that thinks you're the seller issuing a refund.
eBay will automatically refund the buyer is the seller doesn't, but lately that hasn't been happening either.
